DIY Spring Bunny Door Hanger

How to make a Spring Bunny Door Hanger

How to Make a Spring Bunny Door Hanger with Acrylic Paint and StyleTechCraft Vinyl.

I love changing out my decorations with the seasons.

For Spring this year, I decided I needed a new bunny.

This cute little bunny door hanger makes me smile every time I see him.

Dollar Tree* always seems to have the perfect wood cut out for me to use.

And when it only costs $1.25, it’s affordable too.

  • My project was inspired by a Large Floral Rabbit Decoration that I saw at Michael’s Craft Store.  I liked the look of the painted flowers on the rabbit.  But since my hand-painting skills are not that good, a floral stencil would have to do.

  • To create the handle, paint several wood beads with the same acrylic paint as the flowers.
  • String the beads onto a piece of natural twine*.
  • An Easy DIY Tip: Dip the end of the twine into craft glue. Twirl the fibers with your fingers tips to make the strands tight. Once the glue dries, it’s easy to add the beads.

  • I rubbed a little pink paint onto the face before adding the whiskers.

I decided to add the Bunny Door Hanger to the inside of my Boxwood Wreath.

I think it looks cute hanging on my front door.

A Fall Dollar Store Craft

As much as I love the summer weather, I do love Fall.

The cooler weather, the beautiful colors…

I only wish it’d turn right back to summer when it was done.

Nuts for Fall Acorn Door Hanger

Directions:

  • Lightly sand the acorn shape using a sanding block*.
  • Paint the acorn with acrylic paint.
  • Trace around the top of the acorn to create a pattern for the acorn top. Fill in the bottom with a wavy line.  Trace the pattern onto plaid scrapbook paper and cut it out.
  • There are different ways to adhere to the paper. My favorite way is to use the
  • Xyron Creative Station* to add adhesive to the back of the scrapbook paper.
  • Add the plaid paper to the top of the acorn. Use an extra fine point black sharpie* to add a border around the acorn top shape.

  • Using a Silhouette Cameo Electronic Die Cutting Machine* and the Nuts for Fall SVG File, size the design to fit onto the bottom of the acorn shape. Cut the design using several colors of StyleTechCraft Luster Adhesive Vinyl.
  • Once you remove the area inside and around the cut vinyl, use transfer tape* to add the design to the acorn.
  • Decorate the top of the acorn with a big bow, faux leaves, and a small acorn embellishment.
  • Add a small piece of twine for hanging onto a door or add it to the center of a Fall Wreath.

DIY Double Sided Sign for your Patriotic and Olympic Spirit

DIY Patriotic Sign

How to create a double-sided sign to show off your Patriotic and Olympic Spirit.

I picked up this wood star sign at Dollar Tree* to make something for the 4th of July.

Being indecisive, I couldn’t decide if I wanted to do that or make something for the

upcoming Olympics.  So, I decided to do both.

DIY Patriotic Sign

Materials Used:

Directions:

  1. Lightly sand the wood star with the sanding block to smooth.
  2. Paint both sides of the star with white acrylic paint.
  3. To make 1″ stripes, lay the painter’s tape onto the surface, butting each strip up to the other. Remove the middle piece of tape.
  4. Gently rub the painter’s tape* to make sure the edges are securely down.
  5. Paint between the lines of the tape. Wait until the paint has dried before removing the tape.
  6. For a distressed look, gently sand the star to blur the paint lines.
  7. I used my Silhouette Electronic Die-Cutting Machine* to create the words and stars to put on the front and back of the sign.
  8. Apply the vinyl onto the star using vinyl transfer tape*.

DIY Patriotic Sign

I added my sign to the simple boxwood wreath on my front door.

After the 4th of July, I will turn it over to show my Olympic Spirit.

GO TEAM USA!
