Eileen Hull & Sizzix New Dies

Chapter 1 Eileen Hull Sizzix Release

It’s that time of year when Sizzix releases its new designs.

And being part of the Eileen Hull Teams, I wanted to share a few projects

that I made with Eileen’s New Dies.

Watercolor Floral Postal Collage Card

The “Watercolor Floral Postal Card” is made using the Snail Mail Thinlets Die Set*.

Watercolor Floral Postal Collage Card

The snail mail die* is a faux postage stamp pane that fits on the front of an A-2 card.

It’s easy to create postage stamps by tearing them apart with a ruler

and the perforation marks.

Mae's Treasure Box made using Eileen Hull Sizzix XL Scoreboard Book Box Die

My favorite project hands-down is this sweet little treasure box

that I made for my new granddaughter that is coming in May.

I’m very excited to have a little more “pink” in my life.

I will be sharing more on how I put this box together later in the month.

It uses the New Eileen Hull XL Score-Board Book Box*.

This die is very versatile because you use it to create a book or a box.

Eileen Hull Sizzix Phone Stand

The New Phone Stand Die* is a quick and easy project to put together.

So easy to personalize with your favorite patterned paper.

And it looks good sitting on my desk.

These phone stands would make a fun gift.

Creating Backgrounds with Gel Press

Creating Backgrounds with Gel Press

I was recently reintroduced to the Gel Press, a reusable gel printing plate.

I’d seen the Gel Press in action a few years ago and even briefly tried my hand at it.

The Gel Press is a fun and creative way to make backgrounds.

This month, the Eileen Hull Teams collaborated with Gel Press

to create some awesome samples.  Check out Eileen’s Blog Here.

Creating Backgrounds with Gel Press

I watched several Gel Press videos online before jumping right in.

I was impressed with the idea of using die-cuts to make backgrounds

and used a few of Eileen’s Dies to make mine.

Creating Backgrounds with Gel Press

Here’s how I made the Snowflake Background:

  • Start with several colors of acrylic paint and use a Brayer* to blend the paint onto the gel press.
  • Place the Snowflake die-cuts (cut using the Wreath & Snowflake Thinlet Die Set*) directly onto the paint.
  • Place a white piece of paper onto the gel press and press over the cardstock to remove the excess paint.
  • Remove the snowflake die-cuts.  Place another piece of cardstock over the Gel Press to pick up the remaining paint and patterns.

Creating Backgrounds with Gel Press

I die-cut another snowflake in blue and adhered it to the background to create this card.

I used the Eileen Hull Sweater Embossing Folder* to create the background layer.

Creating Backgrounds with Gel Press

I also tried the same technique using dye inkpads instead of paint.

I used small inkpads and dabbed them all over the gel press.

Use a Brayer* to blend the inks before adding the snowflake die-cuts.

Creating Backgrounds with Gel Press

Use the Xyron Creative Station* to adhere the snowflake background paper

to Mat Board*. Die-cut the mat board using the Tiny Book Die to create

this sweet little album.  (This tiny album measures 2 1/4″ x 3″.)

Creating Backgrounds with Gel Press

The perfect mini-album to add those snowy day pictures.

Creating Backgrounds with Gel Press

Create a simple accordion out cardstock for the inside pages of the album.

Simple Vintage Fall Memories Scrapbook Album

the New Full-Sized Journal Die* from Eileen Hull and Sizzix.

This was probably my most favorite one.  I love this die because of its impressive size.

You’ll need to have a Sizzix Big Shot Plus*or Sizzix Big Shot Pro* to cut this.

You can read all the project details here.

Making a Christmas Putz House

Making a Christmas Putz House

Christmas Putz houses are little cardboard or paper houses.

Sometimes illuminated, they are usually decorated with mica flakes

and glitter to make festive Holiday Villages.

Making a Christmas Putz House
Last year, the Eileen Hull Teams got together to bring everyone a little

Comfort and Joy during a rough Christmas Season.

Everyone seemed to enjoy it, so we decided to do it again.

My Christmas Putz House, made with Eileen’s House Ornament Die*,

is my contribution to this year’s “Comfort and Joy” collaboration.

Making a Christmas Putz House

Materials Used:  (*affiliate link)

Making a Christmas Putz House

Directions:

  • Cut two 6″ x 8″ pieces of Christmas Scrapbook.
  • Run both pieces of paper design side up through the Xyron Creative Station®*. As the paper moves through, it adds adhesive to the underneath side. You get complete adhesive covering.
  • Cut two pieces of Sizzix Matboard* 6″ x 8″.
  • Adhere the Christmas Scrapbook paper onto each one of the mat boards. (Underneath will be plain)
  • Lay covered mat board on top of the House Ornament Die*. Sandwich the die and mat board between the cutting plates. Run the die, matboard, and cutting plate through the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine*. The Big Shot will cut out the house shape and two tiny houses you can use on a later project.
  • Cut two of the house shapes.
  • Carefully fold on the scored lines.
  • Cut off the top tab with the two holes on both houses. (It is for making the house into an ornament.)
  • You will also need to cut the bottom flap from one of the houses.
  • Use Rapid Fuse Adhesive* to assemble the house. Glue all sides of the house together before gluing the roof tabs.

Making a Christmas Putz House

  • For the Roof: Cut a piece of Kraft Corrugated paper 2 1/4″ x 4″. Fold in half and glue to the top of the roof.
  • Place two small pieces of white mat board over the window section of the ornament house die and run through the big shot die cutting machine. Trim around the matboard to create two small windows. Cut two small pieces of gold paper or vellum to fit under the window frame and glue them into place. Glue the windows frames onto the house.
  • Cut a tiny piece of mat board to use as a door.  Glue a small piece of corrugated paper over the door for the roof.
  • Use a 3″ x 4″ piece of mat board as the base for the house. Cover the mat board with scrapbook paper.
  • Glue the putz house, bottle brush tree, and mini snowman ornament to the base.
  • Decorate your Christmas Putz House with small wreaths, snowflakes, glitter and mica flakes.

Warm & Cozy Snowflake Christmas Card

Warm & Cozy Snowflake Card-Sue's Creative Workshop www.sueeldred.com 6066

How to make a Warm & Cozy Snowflake Christmas Card

using the Sweater Embossing Folder* from Sizzix* and Eileen Hull.

I have a “thing” for cable-knit sweaters. (just ask my family)

So it comes as no surprise how much I love this new embossing folder.

It’s perfect for creating quick and easy cards.

Warm & Cozy Embossed Sweater Card

Directions:

  • To create the embossed sweater layer, place a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of cream cardstock into the Sweater Embossing Folder*.  Place the embossing folder onto the Sizzix Big Shot* platform.   Crank the handle of the Big Shot* to run the embossing folder through the machine.
  • Adhere the embossed layer onto the blueberry cardstock layer. Adhere those layers onto a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ cream cardstock base.
  • Add adhesive to the back of the wood snowflake and adhere to the front of the card. Add the adhesive pearl to the center of the snowflake.
  • Tie a small bow and glue it onto the top of the snowflake.
  • Using a computer generated font, print the words “warm & cozy” onto a piece of cream cardstock.  Cut the cardstock into a strip with a v notch on each end. Place thin foam mounting squares under the cardstock strip and add to the front of the card under the wood snowflake.

FYI…This is a thick card.  You will need extra postage to mail it.  (It might be best to hand deliver.)

gray/red plaid ribbon, a jingle bell, and greenery. (You will need to provide acrylic paint.)

for personalization.  You have the choice of the red flannel shown, a soft grey flannel,

or red and black buffalo check flannel.

A little more about Sue’s Holiday Workshop…

For the last decade (plus), I have looked forward to hosting my annual “Sue’s Holiday Workshop” every November. It’s my Holiday Christmas Party with friends. This stupid pandemic has made it hard. Last year we did an abbreviated version of the Holiday Workshop with fewer projects and an affordable price. This year I’ve decided to do the same. I hope that next year, we will finally get to come together in person. It’ll be a full day of Holiday Crafting Fun. (I’ll probably start planning as soon as this season is over.)
