How to make a Sparkly, Shimmery Shaker Birthday Card.

Shimmer & Shake Birthday Card

One of the great things about being a cardmaker is making fun cards

for special people. I made a quick and easy card for my cousin’s birthday

over the weekend and forgot to take any process shots.

So, I decided to make another one, slightly different.

Making Sparkly Shimmery Cards are fun to make.

Taking photographs of those kind of cards are not.

To give the cards the extra sparkle and shine, I used StyletechCraft’s Chrome Vinyls.

Directions:

  • Usually, when I’m working with vinyl, I use it as a sticker. This time I wanted to use the vinyl to make a dimensional piece. Before die-cutting, I placed the vinyl onto the cardstock.
  • Die-cut the words Happy Birthday using Pink Chrome Adhesive Vinyl*.
  • Die-cut the birthday background using Silver Chrome Adhesive Vinyl*.
  • Cut the Small 3D Foam Squares* in half and place them onto the back of the letters. Use tweezers to add each of the letters to the background.

  • Die-cut a frame using white cardstock.
  • Cut a piece of clear acetate slightly smaller than the frame.
  • Use a double tape roller to add adhesive around the frame.
  • Remove the protective film from the acetate and place it inside the frame.
  • Place double-sided adhesive strips over the acetate.
  • Cut a piece of Holographic Mist Chrome Adhesive Vinyl* slightly smaller than the frame.

DIY Floral Notepad Holder

DIY Floral Notepad Holder

Create a Handy Floral Notepad Holder using Sizzix Dies by Eileen Hull.

I am a list maker!

I usually have several lists going at one time.

And, if the list gets too messy, I’ll create a new one.

Lists are my way of keeping me organized.

Post-it notes* are another favorite of mine.

This Floral Notepad Holder is a great place to put my Post-it notes.

Directions:

  • I used a piece of white mat board* as the base to create the pieces for the Notepad Holder. It makes everything lay wonderfully smooth with no peeling up corners.

  • Adhere the pieces together using a strong adhesive. My favorite for adhering mat board is Dap Liquid Adhesive*.  All you need to do is hold the glued piece in place for 30 seconds, and it stays secure.

  • To add a decorative element to the edge of the center plaque, use the flat end of a gold calligraphy pen* to add a gold edging.  (It may take a little practice to make your lines smooth.)

  • Cut the letters “NOTES” for the front of the pocket using the Alpha Numeric Die* and StyleTechCraft Gold Craft Vinyl*.

Sue’s Storage Tips for Craft Vinyl Storage

Sue's Tips for Craft Vinyl Storage

Are you looking for an easy way to sort and store your vinyl sheets?

I’ve been making projects with StyleTechCraft’s Adhesive Vinyl for the past five years.

I am a member of their Design Team; they are an extremely generous company to work with.

Because of their generosity, I have accumulated a lot of vinyl.

Sue's Vinyl Storage Tip

I have tried a few different ways to organize my vinyl,

I always found myself spreading everything out to find the exact style and color I needed.

I needed a solution that would adapt to the way I work.

“This is a sponsored post.  As a member of the StyleTechCraft Design Team I have been provided product and compensation in exchange for my creative ideas.  The views and opinions are my own.

Sue's Vinyl Storage Tip

I find that it’s easier to sort the vinyl according to the type of vinyl.

I created broad categories that would fit my vinyl.

I found the Clear IRIS Scrapbook Paper Storage Boxes*

and the Modular Storage Rack at Michael’s Craft Store.

Vinyl is heavier than regular scrapbook paper and needs a heavy-duty storage cabinet.

Having open shelves makes it easy to find exactly what style I’m looking for.

Sue's Vinyl Storage Tip

Creating Labels for the Iris Boxes

I have been wanting to label my boxes for a while.  I finally took the time this week to do it.

Sue's Vinyl Storage Tip

  • Cut a piece of Vinyl Transfer Tape* to fit over the vinyl words.  Gently rub over the transfer paper using the squeegee tool.  Lift the transfer tape to remove the vinyl from the white liner.

Sue's Vinyl Storage Tip

  • Place letters onto the black label.
  • Gently rub over the vinyl transfer tape using the squeegee tool to make sure all the image has transferred.

Sue's Vinyl Storage Tip

  • Use the transfer tape to pick up the label and adhere it onto the front of the IRIS box*.

Sue's Vinyl Storage Tip

My office assistant, Dexter, walked into my shot as I was taking pictures.

He’s not a lot of help, but he sure is cute.

Sue's Vinyl Storage Tip

In my office/workshop, I have a counter dedicated to my Silhouette Cameo.

It’s nice to have it out and not in the way.

Sue's Vinyl Storage Tip

Under the Silhouette Cameo is a drawer full of StyleTechCraft Vinyl Transfer Tape* and vinyl tools.

I love having everything easily accessible and at my fingertips.

Card Making with StyleTechCraft Vinyl

Card Making with StyleTechCraft Vinyl

Cardmaking with Vinyl…

Did you know that the same vinyl you use to embellish everyday items

around your home can be used to create beautiful cards?

StyleTechCraft adhesive vinyl makes it easy to create cards with intricate and delicate designs.

Use it with your Cricut or Cameo electronic cutters and even with steel rule dies.

The possibilities are endless!

Card Making with StyleTechCraft Vinyl

This month the StyleTechCraft Design Team was asked to use Polished Metal Vinyl

to create a project.  In the past several years, I’ve added StyleTechCraft vinyl

to almost every imaginable surface around my house.

I have used it on plates, glasses, coffee cups, vases, metal, wood and more.

But I often forget to use it to create cards.
