You are my Sunshine…I remember this song sung to me and several other little ones

throughout the years.  I’ve sung it myself to all my kids and grandsons.

Did you know you can change the word “sunshine” to almost anything.

My youngest son’s favorite version was you are my airplane?   (try it)

This layout features my youngest “bubble-making” grandson Emerson.

I created the You are my Sunshine Scrapbook Layout using the Hello Sunshine Stamp and Die Set from The Makers Movement.  This set is perfect for Card Makers and Scrapbookers.

  • To mimic the puffy clouds and the scalloped frames.  I created a scallop border for my striped layer using the scallop edge cut from the bottom of the largest Nested Square Tags.  If you place them strategically, you won’t see any seams.
  • Adhere the scallops to the back side of the striped paper.

The Sunshine Die Cut makes the perfect embellishment for my page.

  • I used my Silhouette Electronic Die Cutting Machine and adhesive Craft Vinyl to create the words “You are my, and the name Emerson.
  • For the bubbles, I cut several sizes of small circles using Transparent Glitter Vinyl and the Silhouette.

This is one of my favorite pictures of my three kids now that they’ve grown up.

Silly, Carefree and Serious

It captures their personalities perfectly.

I have this picture in a frame in my family room,

but, I wanted to use it for a scrapbook layout as well.  (It is my favorite, after all.)

“The Family Tree”

The Family Tree…

In the backyard of my childhood home stands a ginormous Silver Maple tree.

That gigantic tree has been the backdrop for tons of family pictures during it’s 40 plus years.

I’d always thought of it as “my tree” because I was the one who drug it up from the woods

and had planted it.  Up until recently, possibly last year, I found out that it wasn’t my tree.

Dad told me that my tree didn’t make it and he had replaced it with this one.   (Sigh!)

One of my favorite pictures was this one taken on Thanksgiving Day 2006.

The guys were out in the yard playing catch with the football and I asked my sister-in-law

to snap a family picture.  The guys lifted my youngest up in the tree, football still in hand.

As we get my parents house ready to sell, it dawned on me that I need to get another

family picture by “my tree” while we still have the chance.

This past week-end, we had one last large family get-together at the home

and took one enormous family picture around that old tree.  (35 in all with only 3 missing.)

We also took this one of my family…Just as we were, sweaty and all.

It was a beautiful evening spent celebrating family.

It was also a little bittersweet as I know Mom and Dad would have loved it.

For my Xyron Design Team project this week, the team got the opportunity to pick any

collection we wanted from Photoplay Paper.

The moment I saw the Memory Lane Collection I knew it was perfect for my pictures.

I received the collection which included 12 sheets of beautiful double-sided paper and a full

sheet of beautiful cardstock stickers and a package of the ephemera cardstock die cuts.

Everything went together smoothly with the help of my trusty Xyron Mega Runner*.

Splatter Painting

When you get an opportunity to look absolutely ridiculous…

have a little fun and make a really big creative mess, well…you just need to take it!

Last year at the Creativation Show, there was a clear acrylic booth set up called

the “Splatter Room”.  As the name suggests, splatter painting is extremely messy.

So…dressed in a hazmat suit and goggles,

I went to town choosing paint and splattering it all over my canvas.

Oh, what a glorious mess! 

It was so much fun and the highlight of my day.

The Shimelle “Box of Crayons” collection from American Crafts was the perfect collection

for my crazy, colorful pictures taken on my Splatter Day.

Last Saturday, National Scrapbooking Day, I spent my day divided between playing with

paper and playing in the dirt.  (I do love a glorious mess.)

The “let’s be friends” card was another project that I made using the “box of crayons” collection

and my Xyron Tape Runner*.

The new guy in my life…

There’s a new guy in my life and I’m in love.

Meet the newest member of our family, my sweet little grandson Emerson.

Emerson is my third grandchild, my third grandson and the littlest brother.

He has already stolen all of our hearts.

I’m so excited to have a new love in my life.

For Emerson’s layout, I used the Lullaby Collection from Pebbles Inc.

    • I created a lacey border for the photo using the Spellbinders Captivating Squares Die Templates* and cutting and piecing six squares together.
    • I wanted some small floral accents for my layouts so I fussy cut small flowers from the floral scrapbook paper.  I used thin 3D foam mounting squares on a few of the flowers.

When the boys came over to visit the other day, Nick had it in his mind that he was going to

rake a huge pile of leaves to play in.  Since the maple tree in the front yard had yet to drop it’s leaves

I suggested he rake up the Pine Needles.  (I figured a win-win for both of us)

They raked, they threw, they had a really good time.  They IMPROVISED!

and…there were pine needles everywhere.

I love this picture of the boys.  So much fun.

Warren Loves Cars

My grandson Warren loves his cars.

And…it’s not uncommon at any given time to see him walking around with 2 or 3 cars in his hands.

His favorite being Lighting Mc Queen from the movies Cars.

He’s so cute when he’s looking for a particular one.

“It’s red with blue wheels and it has a spider web on it.”

You mean the Spiderman car?  “Yeah”

So… for Warren’s layout I decided to use cute cars puffy stickers from Paper House Studios.

For my layout, I started with an 8 1/2″ X 11″ piece of black cardstock and drew my road lines using

a ruler and a pale grey colored pencil.
