Winter Shaker Card with Eileen Hull’s New Sizzix Release

Today is Release Day for Eileen Hull’s newest dies for Sizzix,

and I’m excited to share a couple of projects that I’ve made.

As soon as I saw the sneak peek of what was coming,

I knew I wanted to make a winter shaker card.

So…even though I am hanging onto Summer as hard as I can,

I still am in the mood to make a few Winter cards.

Another project I made was the Winter Deer Tag.

I wanted it to look like a serene winter scene.

I used the Lacy Leaves Embossing Folder* to emboss the first layer of the tag.

I added thin foam mounting squares* under the deer and

green tree to give the tag dimension.

Enjoy The New Sizzix Collection

This collection was inspired by nature and the cozy feeling of home.  It was designed to coordinate with the Handbound Journal* (sold separately) to create a tunnel book, but each die set also stands beautifully on its own and can be used in so many creative ways!

Home Sweet Home Die Set*
This 24-piece set includes layered forest animals (deer, fox, bunny, squirrel, and butterflies), pine trees, grassy hills, greenery, clouds, sun, moon, and a cozy house. The sweet deer alone makes this set worth it! Perfect for holiday projects, baby themes, everyday cards, journals, and tags.

Windowsill Flowers & Vase*
A 13-die set designed to coordinate with the Tunnel Arches. The window die matches the largest arch, letting you build a 3D scene that looks as though you’re peering through a window. The tiny vase and flowers are wonderful for using scraps. The little lacy piece also makes a lovely accent for junk journal pockets and cards.

Tunnel Arches*
Who knew arches could be so versatile? Make a rainbow! Use the negative cuts to create graduated windows in journals, cards, and home décor, or the positive pieces as card bases and tags—nothing goes to waste! This 7-die nesting set ranges in size from 4 ½” x 3 ¼” down to teeny-tiny (so cute!). They were designed to fit perfectly inside the Handbound Journal if you’d like to try your hand at a tunnel book.

Watch for upcoming tutorials on Eileen’s YouTube channel!

Lacy Leaves Embossing Folder*
A bold, intricate lacy pattern measuring 6” x 8 ½”—perfectly sized for journal covers and cards. This design was inspired by an actual piece of lace from my collection that reminded me of leaves. I love the mix of nature and lace! Whether you emboss or deboss the pattern, the result is simply beautiful.

Warm & Cozy Snowflake Christmas Card

Warm & Cozy Snowflake Card-Sue's Creative Workshop www.sueeldred.com 6066

How to make a Warm & Cozy Snowflake Christmas Card

using the Sweater Embossing Folder* from Sizzix* and Eileen Hull.

I have a “thing” for cable-knit sweaters. (just ask my family)

So it comes as no surprise how much I love this new embossing folder.

It’s perfect for creating quick and easy cards.

Warm & Cozy Embossed Sweater Card

Directions:

  • To create the embossed sweater layer, place a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of cream cardstock into the Sweater Embossing Folder*.  Place the embossing folder onto the Sizzix Big Shot* platform.   Crank the handle of the Big Shot* to run the embossing folder through the machine.
  • Adhere the embossed layer onto the blueberry cardstock layer. Adhere those layers onto a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ cream cardstock base.
  • Add adhesive to the back of the wood snowflake and adhere to the front of the card. Add the adhesive pearl to the center of the snowflake.
  • Tie a small bow and glue it onto the top of the snowflake.
  • Using a computer generated font, print the words “warm & cozy” onto a piece of cream cardstock.  Cut the cardstock into a strip with a v notch on each end. Place thin foam mounting squares under the cardstock strip and add to the front of the card under the wood snowflake.

FYI…This is a thick card.  You will need extra postage to mail it.  (It might be best to hand deliver.)

Holiday Joy Christmas Card

A little Holiday Joy Christmas Card to brighten up your day.

If you like making your own Christmas cards and have a lot to make,

this quick and easy card might be a great choice.

I’m thinking, this simple little card is the one I’ll send this year.

Card Details….

  • To make my snowflake stand out more. I took a small piece of white ultra metallic glitter vinyl and adhered it to a piece of cream cardstock before die-cutting the snowflake. You can’t tell by the picture, but the snowflake has a glittery shimmer.
  • I like to use the Xyron Create-A-Sticker*to add adhesive on the back of the gold cardstock before die-cutting the letters.  It makes assembling the card a breeze.
  • The finished card size is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.

Simple Vintage Christmas Cards

Simple Vintage Christmas Cards

Last week-end at my annual Holiday Workshop we made several Christmas cards using the

“Simple Vintage Christmas” Collection from Simple Stories.

I’m a big fan of vintage Santa’s and fell in love with this collection.

It was so much fun to work with.

I was able to keep the cards fairly simple with only a few embellishments and ribbons

because the images were so beautiful.

I picked up the cute snowflake embellishments at Hobby Lobby.

This one I made into a gift card holder.

Simple Vintage Christmas is a great Holiday Collection.

Christmas Tree Card

christmas-tree-card-sues-creative-workshop-2755

Although I don’t always send a ton of handmade Christmas cards out, I do enjoy making them.

The Christmas Tree card was made using paper and stickers from Paper House Productions.

I love how the playful plaids blend perfectly together to form a Traditional Christmas feel

in this layered card.  Enjoy!  (makes me feel like singing “O’ Christmas Tree…”)

To make the card you’ll need:         (*affiliate links)

christmas-tree-card-assembling-the-layers-sues-creative-workshop

Directions:

  1. Cut a 4 1/2″ x 6″ piece of “red flannel” paper.  Hold the edge of the paper against the nib of the gold calligraphy marker to add a thin gold border on the edge of the paper.  Adhere the red flannel layer onto a 4 3/4″ x 6 1/4″ piece of black cardstock.
  2. Adhere the red flannel and black layers onto a 5″ x 6 1/2″ green card base.
  3. Cut the “deck the halls” paper (green plaid) using the “labels twenty two” die.  Add a thin gold border around the edge of the label like in step #1.  Adhere the green plaid label onto a 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ gold metallic cardstock layer.
  4. Cut a decorative square using the “captivating square” die and a piece of green cardstock.  Adhere the green plaid label and gold metallic square onto the top of the decorative square.
  5. Adhere the green and gold layers onto the bottom portion on the red flannel layer, leaving even spacing on the bottom three sides.
  6. Assemble the pine swag  using the 3D stickers and glue onto the top of the card.  (picture below)
  7. Finish embellishing the front of the card with the 3D Christmas Tree sticker and a couple of red adhesive rhinestones.
