Vintage Home Sweet Home Layout

Home Sweet Home 3088 Lately, I’ve been noticing more and more people using embossing paste on their scrapbook layouts.

Hmmm…. I haven’t used embossing paste in years.

Matter of fact… my jars of embossing paste are over 10 years old.  (and still good)

So, I thought I’d give it a try with a simple layout and this old house picture.

Quick, Simple and adds a subtle punch to this layout.  I think I like it.

Embossing Paste Border 3092

Using embossing paste is easy:

  • Lay stencil onto cardstock, fix in place with removable masking tape.
  • Apply a thin layer of embossing paste over the stencil using a palette knife.
  • Remove stencil and allow time to fully dry.
  • Make sure to clean embossing paste off stencil right away.
  • It’s as easy as icing a cake.

Winter Fun Sledding Layouts

Winter Layout 3153

I finally got around to scrapping the fun sledding pictures I took of Nicholas and his Mom sledding.

What a fun time they had and I had a really great time taking pictures.

Family Ties Layout 1657

I recently transferred my old scrapbook layouts into a new album.  A lot of my pages were

so thick that I needed to find an album that would fit all my dimension with out bulging.

While transferring the pages, I ran across this one that I made in 2007 of my husband’s parents.

I always tell Justin that he’s a lot like his dad.

Not so much in appearance, but in personality.

You know those traits that your husband has that drives you crazy?

He has all those and more.  (teens!)

Anyway...

I showed this page to Justin and he was amazed at how much he looked like his grandfather.

Eyes, Stature…

So, I’m blaming all those traits on him.

Getting out the album was a lot of fun for everyone.

Looking through it, I realized how thankful I am for the pages that had journaling.

It’s important to document your story!

We think we’ll always remember, but we don’t.

Here’s the album I purchased, it’s from We R Memory Keepers.

I have 34 layouts with dimension and the album still lays flat.

Pinterest Inspiration

One of the places I go when I need a little creative inspiration is Pinterest.

So many wonderful photo’s to look at.  So many wonderful ideas.

I have to make sure I have an hour or so to kill when I do.

I thought I’d share with you one of my FAVORITE layouts I found on Pinterest.

I asked permission from Kay Miller of Kay Millers Designs if I could share.

(It’s always a good idea to ask first.)

Berry Layout

I love everything about this layout. Everything’s so well thought out.

Thanks Kay for letting me share your wonderful layout.

Make sure to check out Kay’s site www.kaymillerdesigns.com for more creative inspiration.

And… if you’re on Pinterest and you’d like to check out my pins you can find me here.

Kaisercraft “Dream Big”

Some of you may remember my family pictures that was taken on Easter.

Easter Layout #2

I love all the silly shots we got that day.  I think “captured” really fits on the layout below.

The caption reads:

Somebody got a little excited as Mom ran back and forth setting the camera on the tripod.

These layouts were made with Kaisercraft’s Dream Big Collection.

Mini Garden Double Layout

There’s nothing better than spending quality time with someone you love.

I knew as soon as I saw the pictures from “Nick and Grandma’s Mini Garden”, our special project, they would make wonderful scrapbook pages.   (see the original post here)  Lucky for me, my design team packet for The Paper Forest was the garden themed collection “Herbs & Honey” from Basic Grey.

I choose to keep the layouts simple with a focus on the story and the pictures.

Say Cheese

Serenity Layout Say Cheese

They were trying to get Serenity to smile when her grandpa decided to make a funny face.

When she copied him the result was pure fun and personality.

This layout was made for The Paper Forest Design Team.

It uses the “Modern Miss” collection from Bo Bunny.

Serenity Layout yellow background #2A little more serious layout from the same photo session.

This time I used a mix from the “Modern Miss” collection and “Calypso” background paper from Quick Quotes.  I purchased a second sheet of the floral paper and fussy cut around the flowers.  I added foam mounting squares under the flowers to add dimension.

A productive day

I enjoyed my snow day yesterday.  (Didn’t leave the house.)

I worked on these layouts off and on all day.

Funny how something so simple can take so long.

The first layout is of my sweet grandson Nick.  (fall of 2012)

The second layout is of Nick and his new little brother Warren.

My daughter-in-law was taking Christmas Eve pictures and we got this crazy idea to take

“Elf on the Shelf” pictures with the little guy.

Of course, Big Brother Nick wanted to get in on the action.

Glad to get these pictures on a page.
