DIY Fall Recipe Holder

Now that the weather has turned a little cooler… I start thinking about fall baking.

And… I’m always on the look-out for a good recipe.

To keep the recipe from getting lost once all the ingredients are out, I need a good recipe holder.

Here’s a easy project that I made using the Deflect-O VersaGrip Magnetic Sign Holder*.

(The recipe card holder would also make a cute name holder as well.)

FYI…The recipe card and “life is short…” saying is from a scrapbook sheet from the

  Authentique Bountiful Collection Kit*

I added the cute fall saying into a 3″ x 4″ Deflecto Mini Slanted Sign Holder*.

To make my Recipe Holder…

I used a compressed sponge to apply ink directly onto the base and the white band of the

VersaGrip Magnetic Sign Holder*.  (I used StazOn Inkpads which are a fast-drying permanent ink

in Orange Zest*, Claret* and Cactus Green*.)

I wrapped the wire center around a round paintbrush to add a little whimsy.

(The VersaGrip Magnetic Sign Holder*is available at Amazon and comes in a pack of 5.)

The VersaGrip Magnetic Sign Holder* is magnetic so it also will stick onto your refrigerator.

Did you notice the magnet picture frame on the top right corner?

It was made by covering a Deflecto Magnetic Craft Sheet* with scrapbook paper and cutting

the frame shape out using a frame die cut.

Framed Magnetic Family Memo Board

A decorative alternative to the family refrigerator.

This picture of me with my grandsons is one of my favorite photos.

It’s been hanging around on the fridge for a couple of years now.

I decided to make a Framed Magnetic Memo Board that I can hang on the wall and swap out photo’s

in the magnetic frames when ever I feel like it.

  • I started with an old picture frame with the glass removed.
  • I adhered the Magnetic Craft Sheet from Deflecto using double sided adhesive on the frame backing with the black magnetic side up.
  • Next, I covered the black magnetic sheet with a “thin” piece of plaid scrapbook paper and inserted it back into the frame.  (TIP:  using thin paper is the key to the magnetic sheets sticking together)
  • To make the frames:  Cover magnetic sheets with scrapbook paper. Cut magnetic sheet with craft knife and mat or use a wood die cut frame to cut out the frames.
  • You can also create small word magnets using scrapbook paper and the magnetic craft sheets.

Thin metal dies will not work to cut the magnetic sheets, but it would be a great way to store them!

Getting ready for that time of year again…

I know, I know… Many of you may think I might be rushing this a little bit.

But… as a designer and crafter I’m starting to feel a time crunch.

So many projects, so little time.  (time’s a wasting)

Christmas Crafting 2

Something I look forward to getting every month is my box of goodies from Deflecto.

Getting this box is like receiving a Christmas present.

So thoughtfully packed with colored tissue paper.

I really need to take of picture of the box. (so much fun)

This months box was stuffed full of storage and organizing products.

One of the many cool storage products I received from Deflecto Craft Solutions was this

great carousel organizer.  This particular carousel has nine canisters, six 3″ and three 6″.

The carousel spins and is a great place to store all my holiday embellishments in one place.

I also received some great storage cubes, which made me want/need to reorganize my studio.

With all the things I collect (I mean use) I needed more.

Deflecto generously offered to send me some more cubes.  (you’ve got to love that!)

I will post more pictures of my organizing efforts after they arrive.

Refrigerator Magnets

Another cool “NEW, COMING SOON” product is the:  Customizable Magnetic Craft Sheets

White magnetic sheets can be painted or papered. Cuts easily with scissors or craft punches.
Great for kids projects

magnet sheets

I decided to make “refrigerator art” using my magnetic sheets.

I covered the white side of the magnetic sheet with decorative paper and cut it out with a die-cut.
