Vintage Home Sweet Home Layout

Home Sweet Home 3088 Lately, I’ve been noticing more and more people using embossing paste on their scrapbook layouts.

Hmmm…. I haven’t used embossing paste in years.

Matter of fact… my jars of embossing paste are over 10 years old.  (and still good)

So, I thought I’d give it a try with a simple layout and this old house picture.

Quick, Simple and adds a subtle punch to this layout.  I think I like it.

Embossing Paste Border 3092

Using embossing paste is easy:

  • Lay stencil onto cardstock, fix in place with removable masking tape.
  • Apply a thin layer of embossing paste over the stencil using a palette knife.
  • Remove stencil and allow time to fully dry.
  • Make sure to clean embossing paste off stencil right away.
  • It’s as easy as icing a cake.

Confession:  I’m not sure if you noticed or not…

I did not use a plain white strip under the washi tape on the first picture on this post.

You can see the honeycomb underneath.  I like it better with the white strip.  It’s a little crisper.

I tried retaking the picture of the tag over 100 times.  That one was my favorite.  (so I stuck with it)

Little Black Dress Mixable Medley Album

Clear Scraps LBD new album

When it comes to scrapbooking, I have a lot of stuff.

I have so much stuff… I should never buy another sheet of scrapbook paper.  (but I will )

I love paper.  I love pretty patterns.  I love mini albums.  (so much to love)

Lately, I’ve been on a quest to use more of the stuff I have on hand.

So, when it came to making this Mixable Medley Album for Clear Scraps, I pulled

from one of my favorite collections, the “Little Black Dress” collection from Basic Grey.

The album also uses Clear Scraps New Oval Fancy Mirror Frame.

To make the mirror stand out and give the album a vintage feel, I sponged “Spiced Chai”

Stazon Ink onto the back of the acrylic cover leaving the center of the mirror clear.

TBT: Family Ties

A little Throw Back Thursday.

Family Ties Layout 1657

I recently transferred my old scrapbook layouts into a new album.  A lot of my pages were

so thick that I needed to find an album that would fit all my dimension with out bulging.

While transferring the pages, I ran across this one that I made in 2007 of my husband’s parents.

I always tell Justin that he’s a lot like his dad.

Not so much in appearance, but in personality.

You know those traits that your husband has that drives you crazy?

He has all those and more.  (teens!)

Anyway...

I showed this page to Justin and he was amazed at how much he looked like his grandfather.

Eyes, Stature…

So, I’m blaming all those traits on him.

Getting out the album was a lot of fun for everyone.

Looking through it, I realized how thankful I am for the pages that had journaling.

It’s important to document your story!

We think we’ll always remember, but we don’t.

We R Black Album

Here’s the album I purchased, it’s from We R Memory Keepers.

I have 34 layouts with dimension and the album still lays flat.

Getting Cozy…and a update

Joy Tag with a Cool Metal Foil Technique

Directions:

1. Glue letters onto the small chipboard with Beacon Adhesives Zip Dry Paper Glue*.
2. Apply Aluminum Foil Tape* over chipboard. I make the chipboard slightly smaller than the tape so that I don’t have any seams.
3. Using the bone folder, gently go around each letter to bring out the detail.

4. Paint the background with the paint pen. To give it a snowy affect, when
giving a second coat of paint, dot the paint with the tip instead of brushing.
5. Use the pale blue pen to color the letters. Allow both colors to thoroughly
dry.
6. Using a sanding block, lightly sand the letters and edges of the chipboard.
7. For a finishing touch, paint the letters with stickles glitter glue.

Sue’s Holiday Give-Away Time

October Afternoon Silent Night Assortment

One of my daily quirks is to look at my blog stats.

Would you believe I have people all over the world that visits me.

It amazes me too.

As you can imagine, it goes as no surprise that USA is the number one visiting country…

The other day, one thing popped out and kind of surprised me.

Guess which country was consistent all year at the number two spot?

Hmmmm… I’m not going to tell you just yet.  (I’m going to make you wait)

I think I’ll do a Holiday Give-away instead.

How would you like to win the Silent Night Scrapbook Assortment from October Afternoon?

Here’s what you’ll need to do…

Leave me a comment here on this post or on my Facebook Page and tell me

which country you think is at the number two spot.

I will pick one lucky winner from all the guesses.  (you don’t even have to be correct)

Bonus…..if you’re picked and you happen to have the correct guess I’ll include a bonus prize.

Contest ends Friday 12-12-14.

Good Luck and Happy Holidays.

If I were to make a December Daily….

Simple Stories Album

If I were to make a December Daily Album,

December 1st would of looked something like this….

I HAVE COMMITMENT ISSUES!!!

I spent the better part of the day, yesterday, looking at the dozens,

maybe hundreds of “Cyber Monday Specials” in my Inbox.

Completely overwhelming.  So many things to look at.

At one time last night I had 8 tabs open with items I was considering.

At 11:30 last night, I finally placed an order.

Just one?  Yes, just one, and even that one I’m not sure about.

You see, I have a problem hitting that button, putting the item in the cart,

the whole commitment.  Wondering did I make the right decision?

With all those sales… Is today the best deal?  Or will tomorrow’s be better?

It’s tough for a gal like me.

So if I were to write an entry for December 2, it would be…

Take one day at a time and enjoy the Holidays.  (It always gets done.)
