Grandkids are Blessings

Grandkids are Blessings Layout with Truck

I have two adorable grandsons who are just the sweetest little guys.

I just love being around these two.  So many smiles, hugs and lots and lots of love.

Being a grandma is Wonderful.  (Although I’m sure I don’t look old enough to be a grandma)

My Grandkids are definitely a Blessing.

The “Grandkids are Blessings” Layout was made with:          (*affiliate link)

Tip:  I sprayed the Irresistible Texture sprays fairly thick on the front of the word “blessings” and allowed a couple of hours to dry before adhering to my page with Glaz On.

Their Special Day…

Cathi & Brian #1

Cathi & Brian #2

One of the Big surprises of the summer was the wedding of my sweet niece and her new husband.

I am so happy for them.  They make a great couple and they look so cute together.

My last design team assignment for The Paper Forest was Simple Stories:  The Story of Us.

Once I saw the collection I knew exactly what pictures I wanted to use.

I appreciate my niece sharing her photo’s and allowing me to scrapbook her special day.

DCC: Crafting with School Supplies

My Favorite Album

Every since I was a young girl, I have always loved shopping for back to school supplies.

In my family there were 5 kids.  My Mom had to save all summer for this.

It was always a big deal picking out a new outfit and getting supplies.

So when it came time to buy back to school supplies for my kids, I always tried to make it a special day.

I always feel bad for the kids whose mom is going down the aisle stressed and complaining.

That mom just doesn’t get it.  (she’s probably the mom who’s complaining in June)

Now that my son is in High School, back to school shopping isn’t quite the same.

But…I still stop and check things out.

l stock up on glue sticks, theme books and any little thing that I think I can use for my crafting

endeavors.  (I still have lined notebook paper and folders from several years ago.)

Index cards

For my Favorite Things Album, I picked up some inexpensive index cards for .48 at Wal-Mart.

When binding my book, I allowed enough space for two rows of cards.

Now, I can list favorite recipes, books, quotes.  (anything goes)

Embossing Clear Scraps Clear Shapes for Layouts and Cards

Vintage Sisters Layout for Clear Scrap by Sue Eldred using Clear Shape Flowers

Did you know that you can emboss Clear Scraps Clear Shapes?   (I didn’t until recently.)

Smile Card for Clear Scraps Sue Eldred July 2014

For my “Vintage Sisters” layout and “Smile” card, I started with a Clear Shape Flower.

To make the Flower:

  • I used my Big Shot and a Swiss Dot Embossing Plate to emboss my flower.
  • I dabbed Antique Linen Distress Paint on the front of the flower  (raised dot)  and Victorian Velvet Distress Paint on the back side of my flower.

This project was created for and sponsored by Clear Scraps.

Make sure to tell your story.

As the Mom and a Scrapbooker I’m the one who’s telling my family’s story.

I’m also usually the one taking all the pictures.  Sometimes I’m even in the pictures.

As a scrapbooker, one of the things I’ve never done before was to do a layout on “ME”.

I know it feels a little vain, but, it’s important.  (Don’t you think?)

Hopefully one day, my kids or grandkids might enjoy reading a little bit about me.

Isn’t that why we do it?  To tell our “story”.

My 10 Things Layout

Last month on my blog I did a post on “10 things you may or may not know about me.”

I used that post as the starting point for this layout.

I like to use things in ways other than how their supposed to be used.

For this layout I used one of the scalloped shapes from the Send it Clear card kit from Clear Scraps.

Once I glued the scrapbook paper to the clear scallop, I edged around it with a gold paint pen.

I love how it’s a subtle enhancement for my page.  I glued a small medallion onto the tip of the scallop.

The paper is from the “Americana” collection from Pebbles Inc.

I also used Tim Holtz’ “Chit Chat” stickers to emphasize certain words in my story.

It’s simple and it’s me!

Pinterest Inspiration

One of the places I go when I need a little creative inspiration is Pinterest.

So many wonderful photo’s to look at.  So many wonderful ideas.

I have to make sure I have an hour or so to kill when I do.

I thought I’d share with you one of my FAVORITE layouts I found on Pinterest.

I asked permission from Kay Miller of Kay Millers Designs if I could share.

(It’s always a good idea to ask first.)

Berry Layout

I love everything about this layout. Everything’s so well thought out.

Thanks Kay for letting me share your wonderful layout.

Make sure to check out Kay’s site www.kaymillerdesigns.com for more creative inspiration.

And… if you’re on Pinterest and you’d like to check out my pins you can find me here.

Kaisercraft “Dream Big”

Some of you may remember my family pictures that was taken on Easter.

Easter Layout #2

I love all the silly shots we got that day.  I think “captured” really fits on the layout below.

The caption reads:

Somebody got a little excited as Mom ran back and forth setting the camera on the tripod.

These layouts were made with Kaisercraft’s Dream Big Collection.

Cherish Family 1936

I recently ran across this old Family Reunion picture from 1936.

Cherish Family 1936 layout

Because there is over 100 relatives in the picture, I wanted to highlight where my Grandparents are.

Cherish Family 1936 layout tools

I used one of the frames from the “Clear Mixers”.

After removing one side of the protective covering, I painted the edges with Antique Linen Distress

Paint.  I glued a small piece of scrapbook paper under the painted side and trimmed it with an exact-o

knife.  I gently sanded the edges with a sanding block and distressed it slightly with Vintage Photo

Distress Ink before removing the second protective coating.

Cherish Family Layout 1936 close up

My grandfather is the one with the x and my grandmother is sitting to his left holding my Uncle Bill.

I used the Chamberry Collection from Adorn it and a scalloped circle punch and a old border punch

from Marvy Uchida.

Sowing seeds of Love

Mini Garden Double Layout

There’s nothing better than spending quality time with someone you love.

I knew as soon as I saw the pictures from “Nick and Grandma’s Mini Garden”, our special project, they would make wonderful scrapbook pages.   (see the original post here)  Lucky for me, my design team packet for The Paper Forest was the garden themed collection “Herbs & Honey” from Basic Grey.

I choose to keep the layouts simple with a focus on the story and the pictures.
