Way to Go Cubbies!

stephanie-cubs-layout

Last night, while watching the “nail biting” World Series…

my daughter texted me asking me if I could locate the picture of her in her cubs outfit.

She’s been a Cub’s fan for quite some time.

I’d forgotten that I had made it into a scrapbook page.

So…I thought today was a perfect day to share this Throw Back Thursday page.

WAY TO GO CUBBIES!!!

How to make a Halloween Hauntings Treat Bag

Halloween Treat Bag 185

You can make a Spooky Halloween Treat bag using only one piece of 12″ x 12″ paper.

That is as long as you’re not afraid of a few measurements… it really is pretty easy.

How to make the Halloween Treat Bag

Here’s what you’ll need:

Directions:

  1. Cut All Hallows Moon double sided Halloween paper to 8 1/4″ x 11 3/4″.
  2. Score the long width of the paper at 3/4″, 4 3/4″, 5 1/2″, 6 1/4″, 10 1/4″ and 11″.
  3. Score the top of the paper at 3/4″.
  4. Score the bottom 1 1/2″.
  5. Fold along score lines
  6. Cut away the first 3/4″ corner piece.
  7. Fold over the top 3/4″ and adhere in place.  (top diagram)
  8. Fold along lines to create a 4″ x 6″ box.
  9. Tape Side and bottom of the box.Taping the Bottom Flap 148
  10. Cut “toad saliva” bottle section from the Apothecary scrapbook paper and adhere to the front   of the bag.

This sweet little guy loves his cars.

Warren Loves Cars

My grandson Warren loves his cars.

And…it’s not uncommon at any given time to see him walking around with 2 or 3 cars in his hands.

His favorite being Lighting Mc Queen from the movies Cars.

He’s so cute when he’s looking for a particular one.

“It’s red with blue wheels and it has a spider web on it.”

You mean the Spiderman car?  “Yeah”

So… for Warren’s layout I decided to use cute cars puffy stickers from Paper House Studios.

making the roads 9904

For my layout, I started with an 8 1/2″ X 11″ piece of black cardstock and drew my road lines using

a ruler and a pale grey colored pencil.

I actually made it to the ocean this year.

Myrtle Beach Layout 09768

Going to the Ocean is one of my favorite things to do…

and it had been three long years since we last visited.

It was long over due.  The beach was calling.

Long daily walks on the beach, soaking up the sun, ocean breezes, good food, reading and relaxing.

It was hard to come back.  I needed another week.  (I need another week!)

Jim and Sue 9530 - Copy

During our week there, we allowed our teen-age son to visit and stay with his best friend who lives

an hour away from where we were staying.  Giving him those few days to re-connect also gave

my husband and I a few days to re-connect as well.

Charleston Collage

After we picked him up we headed to Charleston for the day.

Charleston is one of the most beautiful and one my all time favorite cities.

Charleston 9440

Charleston is steeped in history and gorgeous homes.

I enjoy walking along the harbor, taking pictures and checking out the architecture.

Sweetgrass Baskets

Another favorite is visiting the Market Place where I am always fascinated by the Sweetgrass Baskets,

a true Charleston tradition.   (I’ve invested in a few baskets over the years.)

The baskets may seem a little pricey, but, when you consider the tedious hours of labor that goes into

each one, they’re probably underpriced.

Myrtle Beach

Luckily, we had a few more beautiful days of sunshine together before heading home.

It’s never enough time for me.

(If you’d like you can read last year’s post about not going to the beach here.)

Myrtle Beach Layout 9752

I created my beach layout using Paper House Productions

At the Beach Paper Crafting Kit and the New Beach Mixed Card Pack.

I layered three different patterned papers to mimic the color of the water on the horizon line

and the feel of the sandy beach.

Beach Life Close Up 9781

I love the New Beach Mixed Cards, the pack comes with a variety of pictures, overlays and frames.

(I added thin 3-D foam mounting squares to the back of the frame before attaching it to the picture.)

The Myrtle Beach Sticker (for decorating your phone) was found at a local beach shop.

Father’s Day Pool Party Layout

Pool Party Layout 8924

A few weeks ago, on Father’s Day, I invited everyone over for a BBQ Pool Party.

There were 30 of us in all.

It was fun, loud and a little bit crazy.  (Just like this layout.)

Thanks to the week before being warm and sunny, the pool was perfect for swimming.

No chattering teeth or blue lips this year!

Em’s Softball Frame

Emily's Softball Frame 7885

This is my niece Emily and her no#1 fan.  (her mom)

I recently went to one of Emily’s High School Softball games to watch her pitch and take pictures.

I asked Emily if it would be ok to use one of her pictures for one my Design Team Projects.

I’ve used Paper House Productions “Sports Collections” for Guys but it’s also great for girls too.

Em's Softball Frame

For Emily’s frame I used a 5 x 7 Black Border Acrylic Frame from Deflecto Craft Solutions.

Happy Summer Frame

Happy Summer 8047

I’m really starting to love this new summer schedule.

Everything seems a little more laid back.

I feel like I’m getting lazier by the minute.

But honestly, I’ve been busier this week than I have in a while.

This week has been full of gardening, cooking out, a couple of really cold dips in the pool,

movies, shopping, a soft ball game and to end out the week…

dance recitals and a retirement party.

And… I don’t want to miss a thing.

Summertime really is Memories just waiting to happen.

Hello Summer Frame 8046

In case your wondering…

The Happy Summer Frame was made using clear acrylic frames from Deflecto Craft Solutions

Justin’s Baseball Layout for Paper House Productions

Justin Baseball layout 6527

Of the 100’s of baseball pictures I’ve taken throughout Justin’s years of playing baseball,

this is one of my favorites.  Under the lights on a warm summer day.

I don’t even remember if he scored.  (I do remember we got creamed.)

Justin Baseball layout close up 6532

Justin decided to get a little creative and added a galaxy background to the picture.

We framed it as an 11 x 14 for his room.

Now that he’s done with baseball, I miss being a Baseball Mom.

Climbing on the “Really Big Rocks” with Warren

Climbing on the really big rocks with Warren 6062

On a warm afternoon in March, I got the chance to play with Warren outside all by himself.

We played basketball for a little while and then he was off to climb on the “really big rocks”.

Under the tree, in our front yard we have a grouping of big rocks.

When your a two year old little boy it’s the perfect place to climb.

It was such a beautiful day, we played outside for over an hour.

Warren Climbing on the Rocks 6076

I mixed a variety of Paper House Collections to create this fun layout.

From the Faith Collection to Sports and Travel.  They all work well with each other.

Climbing on the rocks close up 6082

I cut a tree silhouette out of brown cardstock and rubbed Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage photo

and outlined the tree with a black marker to give it some dimension.

I printed the rocks clip art onto grey cardstock and cut out.
