a boy and his cars…

I have this sweet boy in my life that loves cars.

Hotwheels to be exact.  (he’s very brand loyal)

Whenever he walks in my house he puts out his hand to show me the car of the day.

“Grandma, I have a new car to show you, you’re going to love this”…

This one’s Split Vision.  He’s aerodynamic and he goes really fast.”

I imagine he’s going to be a Race Car Driver or something equally cool when he gets older.

This kid always has a car with him wherever he goes.

I watched him at his big brother’s Spring Concert roll his car along the bleachers,

checking to see if it would fit under the boot heel of the guy sitting next to me.

To him… everything’s a potential ramp or tunnel.

For my Deflecto Design Team project this month, I decided to “think like he does” and make

a Deflecto 12″ x 12″ Clear Craft Picture Frame* into a “super cool” ramp for my grandson.

I gave the Deflecto Frame* a light sanding with an extra fine sanding block to help the paint

adhere better.  Then, I painted the frame with Rust-Oleum Chalkboard Black Spray Paint*.

I used my Silhouette Cameo* and Glitter Vinyl* from Tape Technologies to create

the words and stripes for “our” new ramp.

And… because you always need more storage for your cars.

I made him a new car box using a Deflecto Stackable Cube Organizer*.

Directions:

  1. Make two marks on the top of the frame approximately 3/4″ in on each side.  The marks need to be approx. 1/2″ down from the top of the frame.  (If the holes go down too far the pages won’t flip correctly.)  Drill two holes in the top of the frame with a 3/16″ drill bit.
  2. For the mini album cover…Adhere a 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ scrapbook paper strip onto the top of the corrugated paper leaving a 1/8″ margin on the top.  Adhere the 3″ x 4″ journaling card (cut from the scrapbook paper) onto a 3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ piece of blue scrapbook paper layer, add those layers onto the corrugated paper and then onto a 4″ x 6″ black cardstock layer.
  3. Using the drilled holes on the craft frame as a guide, mark the cover and the kraft cardstock pages and punch two holes on the top.
  4. Mark and punch holes into a piece of 4″ x 6″ decorative scrapbook paper and insert into frame.
  5. Attach cover and pages to the craft frame with book rings.
  6. Tie ivory ribbon around cover.

Welcome Trick or Treaters

Welcome Trick or Treaters 9833

When it comes to Halloween Decorating, I’m not one to go all out.

Usually a couple of jack-o-lanterns and that’s it.  (I’m pretty low-key)

How do you Welcome Trick or Treaters?

I remember the year my oldest decided that he was too old for trick or treating…

He dressed up in costume… sat in the chair on the porch with a big bowl of candy to pass out.

He sat very, very still.

All the kids thought he was a decoration.

When they’d start to reach and grab the candy he’d scare them.

As I was walking down our street from taking my daughter Trick or Treating that night,

we were warned about the house on the end of the street.

I think that might of been his favorite Halloween.

My “Welcome Trick or Treaters” sign was made using a large frame from Deflecto Craft Solutions

and computer graphics.

The bat and pumpkin chipboard was old K & Company embellishments.

Pretty in Pink

Little Miss Serenity, so Pretty in Pink.

I was shopping with my sister the day she/we found this pretty pink outfit.

As any good sister would, I helped her justify why she really needed it.

I’m good at that sort of thing.

I told her “just think of how cute it’ll look in pictures”.

I was right, wasn’t I?

It’s hard to believe my sweet little niece will be four in just a couple of weeks.

Such a Sweetie!

Creative Ideas using Craft Frames by deflecto

Deflecto Craft Badge (1) team badge

I recently started working with a new company called Deflecto.  Some of you may recognize the name Deflecto from dryer vents or bicycle reflectors. (among many other things)   Deflecto now has Craft Storage Solutions.  Providing solutions to stay organized so you can concentrate on your projects not your clutter.  (and that’s always a good thing)

Deflecto Craft Frames 2

Each month Deflect-o will send me something new to play with.  This month, I’m getting creative using their Craft Frames.

September Calendar

Call me silly, but, this has to be my favorite frame so far.
This frame is not just a clear 8 1/2″ x 11″ acrylic frame.  It is flat backed and comes with heavy-duty magnets, velcro and a push pins attachment so that it can go on a fridge, wall or even a bulletin board.  They’ve thought of everything.

For my frame, I went with the velcro and have it attached inside my office cabinet.  I’m always losing my Editorial/ Blog calendar on my desk among piles.  Now I can find it, take it down and update it anytime I want.

Look Listen Create Enjoy

I like that this frame comes with a black edge.  I added some personal inspiration with scrapbook paper and stickers.

Note Holder w scrapbook paper  Note Holder Clear

The purple frame I made into a girly Post It Note Holder.  The second picture shows the frame clear with no paper scrapbook paper added.  I’m not sure which one I like the best.

Holiday Joy

How about this mini 2″ x 3″ frame decked out for the Holidays. (too cute right?)

I think I’m going to really enjoy working with this company and all their Crafty Storage Solutions.

I love being organized and this will work out great.
