Embroidery Hoop Art

Loving the new Home Décor trend using Embroidery Hoops.

I really love the new Home Décor trend using embroidery hoops and was so excited

when I saw the new Mix the Media Embroidery Hoop Art from Jillibean Soup at Creativation.

The embroidery hoop comes plain with an embroidered word inside in 8″ and 10″.

So many opportunities for embellishments.  (I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one.)

At the show, the Jillibean Soup crew were doing make and takes using the embroidery hoops.

I loved the project, but once I got home, I decided to make-over the embroidery hoop

to better fit my style and décor.  (for me…it needed a little red)

Here’s what I added to my Embroidery Hoop…

Directions:

  1. Glue vintage flower trim around the edge of the embroidery hoop using Beacon Adhesives 3 in 1 glue.
  2. Create a banner using twine and 3″ strips of ribbon.  I added vinyl letters to spell the word “welcome”.
  3. Glue off white flowers from Prima Marketing onto the bottom of the hoop and add a couple heart stick pins.
  4.  Make a 1 1/2″ red and cream ribbon bow and glue it to the top of the embroidery hoop.

Layout and Cards with Jillibean Soup’s Garden Harvest Collection

Layouts and Cards with Jillibean Soup’s Garden Harvest Collection

This is one of my favorite pictures of my three kids now that they’ve grown up.

Silly, Carefree and Serious

It captures their personalities perfectly.

I have this picture in a frame in my family room,

but, I wanted to use it for a scrapbook layout as well.  (It is my favorite, after all.)

I used Jillibean Soup Garden Harvest Collection Pack* to make my layout and a few extra cards.

I love a “clean and simple” card.

“You are my happy” card.

Creativation 2019

These are the moments that remind me how lucky I am to work in the Creative Industry.

Opening Day…waiting for the show to open

Last month, I got the opportunity to fly to Phoenix to work and attend the Creativation Show.

For those of you that don’t know what Creativation is, it is the annual trade show for everyone

involved in the Hobby and Creative Industry.

Manufacturers, Distributors, Retailers, Designers, Bloggers.

For me, as a designer, it’s also the opportunity to reconnect face to face with friends

that I only get to see once a year.  (you know…”my tribe”)

Oh… and the chance to see what’s new and the latest and greatest in the industry.

Make and Takes in the Deflecto Booth

I always have great intentions of taking tons of pictures and possibly a video or two.

But in Reality…I also have to work.  (or play)

Each day, I taught a different “make and take” in the Deflecto Booth.

Deflecto is one of the great companies I have the honor of working with.

Deflecto is known for their awesome craft storage.

The Great Wall of Deflecto Stack ‘N Go Caddy Wheel Base, Craft Organizers*

At Creativation we like to have a little fun.

Each day in the Deflecto Booth they host a Stack ‘N Go Caddy Challenge,

attendees compete to see who can fill and stack the caddies with the fastest time.

(The one with the best time each day wins a American Express Gift Card.)

It’s a big hit and can get quite competitive at times.  At the end of the show, if you’ve got

your special postcard stamped, they give away all caddies used to build the great wall.

It’s a fun booth to work in.

Another company I have the privilege of working with is StyleTechCraft.

They have the best adhesive vinyl to work with.  (and they treat me like a queen)

As you can see…I had a three hour demo on Saturday.

Graphic 45 Booth

I love all their new paper collections.

The Graphic 45 booth is always one of my favorites because their samples are always

so beautiful and inspiring.

Bloom where you are planted…(I need this collection)

Another one of my favorite booths is the Jillibean Soup booth.

Besides being know for their fun paper collections they also have a wonderful line called

Mixed the Media.  I love everything about this collection.

I NEED these windows.  (just saying)

I also took a little “me time” and did a make and take in the Jillibean booth.

This is from their Embroidery Hoop Art collection.

Simple Stories Booth

This is embarrassing.  As much as I LOVE Simple Stories, this is is the only picture I took.

Sometimes…I get to talking too much (and drooling) to take pictures.

Tim Holtz ideal-olgy Booth

As a “vintage lover” this booth always stops me in my tracks.

Idea-ology Booth Make and Take

Look what I made.  Isn’t he cute?

At Creativation there is a large variety of classes that attendees can take.

Business classes, workshops.  This is from the Waffleflower class I took.

I got to use their new “Water Media Mat” that will be available next month.

I always wish I would have taken more pictures.

My pictures are only a super small sample of all the wonderful and creative things

to see and do at the Creativation Show.

Jillibean Soup and Xyron-Siblings Layout

Growing up with you is one of my favorite memories.

This is me with my crazy, wonderful siblings.    (I’m right smack dab in the middle.)

The five of us have been through a lot together.  Especially the last year.

I’m  so glad we have each other to count on.

Even though we drive each other crazy from time to time, there’s a real closeness and love.

This picture was taken last August when the whole family got together for one last

picnic at our family home.

Home… A story of who we are.  A collection of things we love.

That caption from the collection about brought a tear to my eye.

I’m a little nostalgic when it comes to home right now.

Down the hall in my family home was a very large collection of photos.

The pictures covered both sides of the hall walls.  It was like a very big scrapbook.

No one was left out.   (even if you didn’t like the picture)

A collection of everyone they loved.

For my Siblings Layout…here’s what I used:               (*affiliate links)

When you have a lot of little pieces to stick onto a layout I like to use a combination

of my Xyron 3″ Sticker Maker* and my Xyron Mega Runner*.

The Xyron Sticker Maker is real easy to use.  Just place the paper, design side up, into the end of the sticker maker and pull the paper through.  Rub the protective covering and peel back to expose sticker.

This week the Xyron and Jillibean Soup Design Teams have joined forces for one amazing blog hop.  Make sure to join us each day on Facebook for awesome inspiration and a chance to win some cool prizes on both pages.  (make sure to visit both!)

Translucent Vinyl Suncatcher

When I received the Translucent Vinyl from Tape Technologies,

I knew it would be perfect for making a Suncatcher.

The translucent vinyl comes in several great colors to choose from.

To make my Suncatcher I used a framed glass sample I rescued from the garbage.

You could also use a small frame and glue the glass into the frame.

To create my shapes I used my Silhouette Cameo*and Jillibean Soup’s Floral Mandala cut file.

I used the Vinyl Transfer Tape* to overlay the blue onto the pink.

I then transferred both images onto the glass to create the Suncatcher.

To create a little more sparkle I added adhesive rhinestones onto the glass.

A Cup of Attitude

After I finished personalizing my new cup, I proudly ran downstairs to show it to my husband.

“I don’t get it”  was his response.

It’s a cup of Attitude”, I replied.  (I still don’t think he got it.)

I’m generally a very sweet and nice person.

But sometimes…if you could only hear the snarky comments rolling around in my head,

you just might think otherwise.  I keep it to myself most of the time.  (or at least I try)

The struggle is real.

To personalize my cup…                              (*affiliate links)

  •  I used my Silhouette Cameo* to cut out a cute saying from Jillibean Soup out of translucent

Self Adhesive Glitter Vinyl Sheets- by Styletech from Tape Technologies*

  • I picked up the plain white cup at Dollar Tree* for only $1.00.  (*affiliate link)

Dollar Tree is the perfect place to find inexpensive glassware to personalize with vinyl.

Directions:

  • Clean the cup with warm soapy water to remove any grease or residue.
  • Apply the hot pink glittered  vinyl words onto the cup using a Vinyl Transfer Tape*.
  • Next, add the gray glittered vinyl words.
  • The Vinyl Transfer Tape*  makes it easy to line up the words.
  • Wait 4 days for the adhesive to fully cure before using the cup.
  • It is recommended to hand wash only.  (I have put mine in the dishwasher, just saying.)

If you need to keep your attitude a little more subdued…

the cup also makes a great pen holder.
