Sweet Baby BOO!

My sweet little grandson will be celebrating his first Halloween soon…

Inspired by our newest game, I decided to make him a cute little shirt to wear.

With the help of Iron-on Embroidered letters from Joy making the shirt was super easy.

prewash cotton t-shirt
set iron to cotton setting
position letters with shiny side down on garment
cover letters with a fine cloth
with firm pressure iron cloth over the letters for 25 seconds
turn shirt inside out and iron the back of the letters for 25 seconds
allow to cool for 1 minute before cooling

Isn’t he adorable?

Looking at this picture, I’m thinking really big googly eyes would look cute inside the “O’s”.

Elegant Monogram Wedding Tag

Create a Custom Monogram Wedding Tag for that special couple.

You’ll be sure to impress.

There’s a lot of dimension on this tag.

I used white letters which are dye-able. I mixed a drop of ink into a mini spray bottle filled with water and spritzed the letters to tint them.
Emboss your cardstock, trim part of it into a tag shape, and punch a circle from another part. Glue the letters onto the circle – use the couple’s last name in the center and their first names on the sides.
Die-cut a decorative border for the circle. Use the foam squares to adhere the circle to the tag and embellish with a mini flower and trim.
You can find Joy® embroidered, iron-on numbers and letters on sheets or individually in a variety of fonts, colors and sizes at your local craft store.

Snowman Banner with Kunin Felt

Is it too early for a Snowman Banner?

I admit it’s a little early, but when I found this adorable Sizzix Snowman Die by Tim Holtz*

I really wanted to use it in this month’s Designer Craft Connection Blog Hop with Kunin Felt.

Seriously though…Who doesn’t love a snowman?

Here’s what I used to make my Snowman Banner. (*affiliate link)

- 9″ x 12″ craft cuts of Kunin Classicfelt: white, aqua, baby pink, candy pink, olive, smoke, peach chiffon
- Sizzix Bigz Die by Tim Holtz, 5.5 by 6-Inch, Assembly Snowman* (*affiliate link)
- Sizzix Big Shot Cutting/Embossing Machine*
- Beacon Fabri-Tac Permanent Adhesive*
- Iron On Embroidered Letters (Joy SA)
- Pom Pom Trim, Cotton String
- Sewing Machine
- Bamboo Skewer

- - I made a simple banner pattern out of white cardstock.
  - I traced 2 banners onto the felt.

I die-cut the felt into snowman pieces using the Sizzix Snowman Die* and my Sizzix Big Shot Machine*.

- - Glue or Sew the felt shapes onto the banner.
  - Sew both pieces of the banner together leaving a small pocket on the top to insert a bamboo skewer or small wood rod for hanging.
  - Add pom pom trim to the top of the banner.
  - Iron on embroidered letters to spell “let it snow”

Saturday Morning Memo Board

Making Saturdays Special..

Make family time more special with this cute memo board.

Now that the kids are starting to head back to school, weekends are more important than ever.

It’s nice just being together.

Whether I post a reminder about a fun event or a special note to say “I love you,”

this memo board helps me remember that Saturdays should be a little more laid back –

just the way I like it.

To make the Memo board I used… (*amazon affiliate link)

12″ x 14″ Frame (I got mine secondhand at the Habitat for Humanity Store)
Joy Iron-on Embroidered Letters
13″ x 15″ Fabric Remnant
Mono Multi Liquid Glue*
Spray Adhesive*
Foam Board*
Tack Nails
X-ACTO Knife* and Cutting Mat*

Directions:

Measure and cut the cork tiles to fit inside the frame.
Because my frame was deep, I cut a piece of foam board the same size. I glued the cork tiles to the foam board using liquid glue.

3. Lay fabric over cork to determine letter placement. Gently slide cork from underneath fabric and iron letters.

4. Spray the cork with adhesive and smooth the fabric over it.

5. Tap in a few tack nails inside the back of the frame to hold everything in place.

Tie Dyed Emoji Socks

Looking for a fun Summer project to do with the kids?

How about one of a kind Tie-Dyed Emoji socks?

This kids are going to love this!

To make the Tie-Dyed Emoji Socks this is what you’ll need…

White Cotton Socks
Tulip One-Step 5 Color Tie-Dye Kits Rainbow* (amazon affiliate link)
Iron-on Emoji Patches

I tried three different ways to dye my socks.

First, I just squirted dye directly onto the socks. (red and blue pair)
Next, I rubber banded two socks together. (yellowish pair)
Then, I tried rubber banding the socks separately. (purplish pair)

I think I like the socks rubber banded together best. (yellowish pair)

To Dye the Socks…

Add water to the pre-measured squirt bottles.
Rubber-band socks and apply dye.
Let set for 6-8 hours, then rinse – waiting is the hardest part!
Make sure to wear gloves! (I didn’t)
Wash and Dry socks.

6. Iron On Emoji patches on opposite sides of the socks. Very COOL Socks!

“Celebrate” with a Banner made from old blue jeans

Create a banner using Joy Embroidered Iron On Letters and old blue jeans.

When inspiration hits in the middle of the night, it usually ends of being one of my favorite

kind of projects. (This one was fun.)

Got any old worn blue jeans ready to be thrown out?

I started with my old blue jeans and 3″ Iron-on Embroidered Varsity Letters from Joy

in red and blue.

I created a 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ banner pattern using grid paper and traced it onto the jeans.

To add a little interest…I incorporated the seams from the sides of the jeans to use for the

front of the banner. For the word “C-E-L-E-B-R-A-T-E” I cut 9 banners for the front with

seams and 9 plain ones to use to line the back of the banner.

The Iron-on Embroidered Varsity letters are sticky backed so I went ahead and placed

them onto the front of my banners before sewing.

Next came my jar of red ribbon scraps. (I love red so much, I have a jar just for “red”)

I sewed the ribbon scraps onto the tops of each banner.

I then sandwiched the front with a plain back and simply sewed around each banner with

my sewing machine. After the third banner, I finally got smart and started using straight pins.

As you can tell, I was going for a casual simple look. (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it)

After I was finished sewing all my banners, I used my We R Memory Keepers Crop-A-Dile*

to punch two holes. (I used the 3/16″ sized hole.)

I used We R Memory Keepers Eyelets Cool Metal* (affiliate link) for my eyelets.

Did you know that the Crop-A-Dile* easily goes through both layers of jeans.

Heartbreaker Sweatshirt

My teenage son was intrigued when I showed him my stack of new Emoji iron-on patches.

“Can I use one?”, he asked.

Curious to what was in his head, I said “yes” on one condition.

He had to let me photograph what ever he made. (He agreed.)

After deciding on the perfect placement, he even ironed on the patches himself.

I have to admit it turned out real cute.

Monograms, Emojis and a little baby tee

With babies, sometimes you only get a small window for the shot you want.

The plan was to take a picture of him sweetly sleeping while wearing the shirt with

the sleeping Emoji. As soon as we put the shirt on him he was wide awake.

Once awake we got all kinds of scrunched up newborn faces. (some kind of funny)

I finally got this sweet little picture comfortably on his daddy’s lap

I got a kick out of these new emoji patches (that fit perfectly on a itty bitty pocket tee).

So easy to use. Just position in place, cover with a thin white cloth and iron.

Revamped Sunglass Case

I picked up a “free” sunglass case at the Thrift Store the other day.

I was looking for something to paint using the New Patent Leather Paint

that I received from DecoArts.

I love the look of shiny patent leather. And… in red? Oh my!

Combine them all with embroidered letters from Joy*

and you have a personalized custom monogrammed sunglass case.

Here’s what I did to my case…

If your case is old, wipe it down with rubbing alcohol to remove any dirt or grime.
Apply a even coat of patent leather paint onto the sunglass case with a soft bristle brush.
The paint will have a tacky feel as it dries. Allow to dry between coats. You may want to give the case a second coat of paint.
To give the case a custom monogram. Using a good craft glue, glue Iron-on Embroidered letters from “Joy” on to the case.

Quick and Easy Make Up Bag Make-Over

It’s the little things in life that make me happy…

I was packing and getting ready for my last trip when I noticed how dingy my make up bag

was. Yuck! It was time for a change. (My make up needed a make-over.)

Looking around, I found this cute little pink ticking canvas bag from Canvas Corp Brands.

The bag was the perfect size, but kind of simple. It needed a little make-over, too.

To add a little extra personality, I used iron-on letters from Joy with lace and buttons.

I glued the lace trim and buttons on my bag using Beacon Fabri-Tac Adhesive*.

A very quick and easy project to do and now my makeup bag is “BEAUTIFUL”.
