Framed Vintage Inspired Library Pocket Floral Collage

Lately, my style has leaned towards “Clean and Simple”.

But sometimes I like to get inky and create a project with a vintage feel.

The Framed Library Pocket Floral Collage uses the Library Card Die Set from

A few project details:

  • I cut a thin frame out of woodgrain scrapbook paper and the nested rectangle dies. 
  • I used a combination of ribbon and trims to wrap around the library pocket.
  • I filled the library pocket with floral bits & pieces.  Some popped up with 3D foam squares, others backed with thin mat board scraps.  
  • The edges of the pieces were lightly inked using an ink applicator and Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

A Sweet Little Easter Slimline Card.

My favorite time of the year is Spring.  I love celebrating Easter and the new flowers popping out

of the ground and sweet little bunnies and chicks that fill Easter Baskets.

Pinch Proof for St. Patrick’s Day

Doing A little Pinch Proof Preparedness for St. Patrick’s Day.

GREEN is the color of the day on St. Patrick’s Day…

and, I’ll be the first to admit that I look horrible in green. (It’s just not my color.)

So what do you do when green is not your color and you still want to celebrate?

You get creative and make a simple “Pinch Proof” button so you can wear a little green

and keep those pinches at bay. (It’s kind of like cootie protection when you were a kid.)

Directions:

  • Gently rub over the vinyl transfer tape using the squeegee tool to make sure all the image has transferred.   Remove the transfer tape.

Now you’re Pinch Proof and ready to Celebrate.

How to make a Tussy Mussy Gift Topper.

What’s a tussy mussy you ask?

A tussy mussy is a Victorian-style bouquet of a small group of flowers.

And flowers always make for a great gift topper.

A little back story…Way back in the day tussy mussy’s were a thing.  Ladies would carry tussy mussy’s or stick them onto their lapel to mask body odor.  (I’m sure glad we don’t have to do that anymore.)

Balloons and Confetti Birthday Girl Card

A fun birthday card for a sweet girl who just turned 10.

Because 10-year-old girls need a little sparkly glitter, the balloons were made using Ultra Metallic

Glitter Vinyl from StyleTechCraft.

Card Details…

  • I like a little dimension when I create cards, so I added the glitter vinyl onto cardstock before die-cutting it.  I added foam mounting squares under the balloons to pop them up.
  • It’s hard to tell by my picture but the heart balloons are hot pink not red.  The strings on the balloons were cut using silver ultra-metallic glitter vinyl.
  • I used the tiny heart die-cuts to make heart confetti.  It adds a little extra fun.

  • TIP…When I am die-cutting small pieces, I like to run the paper through the Xyron Create-A-Sticker Machine* to add adhesive to the back before cutting them out.  It makes all the little pieces stickers and makes assembling the card a breeze.
  • I used the Mini Maker Die-Cutting Machine to die-cut out the pieces.  While you won’t use it for all your die-cutting needs, I love the compact size on my workspace.

I’ve been struggling lately with lighting, and the winter grays don’t help.

I used the newly fallen snow as my white background.

If you look closely, you may notice the snow crystals underneath the wood slice.

Creating Cute Valentine/Spring Décor with StyleTechCraft Vinyl.

Did you ever get a song stuck in your head while working on a project?

I’m showing my age here, but this Karen Carpenter song kept going through my mind while

I was putting together the Bird on the Branch and, I just had to create the words to go with it.

I love creating projects for my home using vinyl.

Project Details:

  • I used a 5″ x 7″ decorative piece of chipboard that I’d had around for a while.
  • I cut a piece of woodgrain paper a little larger than the chipboard.  
  • Place the paper in the Xyron Creative Station* design side up through. As you turn the handle, it runs through the machine and adds a complete layer of adhesive onto the back of the paper.

  • Adhere the paper to the chipboard and cut away the excess using a craft knife and cutting mat.
  • Use a fine Sanding Block* to smooth out the edges of the chipboard.

  • I used my Silhouette Cameo Electronic Die Cutting Machine* and the “Bird on the Branch” SVG file to create my design.
  • I sized the image to fit onto my chipboard and cut the various layers of the red in three shades to make a cardinal.  
  • After weeding the excess vinyl from around my images, I transferred them onto the chipboard using the Clear Transfer Tape*.
  • After having the song stuck in my head, I decided to create a few words for my sign.
  • For added detail, I went around the edge of my sign with a Silver Leafing Pen*.

  • I cut an extra little cardinal to fit inside a small circle frame and added small red hearts on the top and bottom.
  • To complete my decorations, I added my small faux heart topiary to a reddish metal and added the words “choose happy” in Olive vinyl.

I have Cute Valentines Decorations that will take me into Spring.  (and maybe longer)

Winter Fun Folio Album

The Winter Fun Folio Album made using Eileen Hull’s New Folio Journal Die from Sizzix*

and the Carta Bella Paper Company Winter Market Collection*.

Hi Everyone!

Today, I’m participating with Eileen Hull and Teams for a Chapter 1 Release Party Blog Hop using

the New Folio Journal Die*.  Just wait till you see all of the fun options the New Folio Journal Die* has in store for you!

Here is my Album using the New Folio Journal Die*. 

It is a fun Winter Themed album with four smaller albums tucked inside.

It’s the perfect album for adding little nooks and crannies.  This album was fun to make.

I even added an Antique Bronze Hasp Latch Hook* to keep everything securely in place.

For fun, I will be giving my album away to one lucky commenter.

Album Details:

  • The album pieces are die-cut using Sizzix White Matboard Sheets*, which is the perfect size for cutting long pieces.  (You will need to cut the album pieces twice.)
  • Before I assembled my album, I painted both sides of the album pieces with DecoArt Multi-Surface Acrylic Paint in Night Sky.
  • The two smaller rectangle die-cut pieces shown in the bottom right corner of the picture comes with the die. They are used for creating pockets with the outer flaps.  I painted them dark blue as well.

Album Making Tip:  I like to use my Xyron Creative Station* to add adhesive to my paper before sticking it onto the matboard.  It adds a complete adhesive layer with puckering or wrinkles.

Here’s a picture of the album when it’s open.

  • On one end, I left the flap in tack, I use it to corral the mini-albums in the center of the spine.
  • On the other end, I cut the flap down and created a pocket to hold a small removable album.
  • I used Rapid Fuse Adhesive* with the matboard to adhere to the pocket pieces. It not only dries extremely fast, but it holds well too.

(I apologize, there are too many details to write a full tutorial on the album.)

  • I used Blue and White Twine to attach the three small albums to the spine.

  • Each little album has several blank pages to add pictures and journaling.

Here is a close up picture of the back pocket. 

The Mini-Album easily slips in and out of the pocket.

There is plenty of room in the pocket for adding pictures or a second small album.

Making Valentines with New Slimline Essentials

Happy Valentine’s Day Slimline Card

I’m jumping on the Slimline Card Craze with the help of the New Slimline Essentials Die Set

What’s a Slimline Card? 

Basically, a Slimline Card is a tall card that fits into a business-size envelope.

The Slimline Essentials Die Set takes all the guesswork out of cutting the layers and makes

assembling your card a breeze.

Directions:

  • Die-cut all the layers for the card using the Slimline Essentials Die.
  • Cut three white scalloped squares.
  • Center the small square die in the middle of the scallop square.  Put a small piece of washi tape over the die to keep it in place.  Die-cut to create a small, scalloped frame.

  • Place a piece of double-sided craft foam onto the square foam cutter die to cut small foam squares to use under the scallop frames.

To Create a Center Shaker Element.

  • Adhere a small piece of clear acetate to fit over the opening of the frame.
  • Because the foam frames didn’t match the frame I created, I cut the foam frames on the corners and placed them over the acetate.
  • Using only red and white heart sprinkles, fill the inside of the frame with the sprinkles. Be careful not to overfill so that there is room to shake.
  • Remove the protective lining on the foam and place a small piece of scrapbook paper over the foam.

  • Embellish the front of the card using hearts popped up with double-sided adhesive foam and the word “love” die-cut using the “Special Delivery” die set.

I love a clean and simple monochromatic card.  (and so much fun to make)

Floral Pocket Folio Card

The Floral Pocket Folio Card. 

A sweet and simple card made using two of Eileen Hull’s NEW RELEASE dies from Sizzix,

the Folio Page, Pocket and Flowers Die Set, and the Mandala Die Set.

The Floral Folio Card is like two cards in one.

I just love pockets for adding little extras.

The front of the card is a great place to add a sweet note or gift card.

Cardmaking Tips:

  • The flower pieces and mandala were all cut out of white cardstock.
  • Using the ink applicator and distress inks to gently apply ink onto the flower pieces.
  • To add a little extra detail, add gold around the edge of the larger flower pieces using the gold calligraphy pen.
  • Place thin 3D adhesive foam between the larger two flowers to add dimension.
  • Measure and cut the mandala to fit inside the folio pocket. Cut excess mandala away and glue to the inside edge of the folio pocket.
