Christmas Cards with Serendipity Stamps

Now that the weather is cooler and the calendar has turned to November,

many of you card makers are thinking about Christmas cards.

(I know, some of you have yours done already)

I wanted to share with you today a couple of cards I made using a few of

Serendipity Stamps   New Holiday Stamps.

Both of my cards were water colored using my tombow markers and a waterbrush.

Just another day on the farm…

nicks 4th birthday 10

For Nick’s 4th birthday (a few weeks ago) I tagged along with him, Warren and

their mom for a fun afternoon down on the farm.

It was such a beautiful day and we got so many great pictures, I decided that I needed

to make a mini album for Nick.

Nick's Mini Album

Nick’s album was made using the flexible pouches that I got this month in my Deflecto Design Team

box.  As soon as I saw these flexible pouches I thought “mini albums”.

Deflecto Flexible Pouch

I love how easy the album was to put together.

  • The inside of the pouch measures 3″ x 5 1/4″ so I chose pictures that could easily be cut down.
  • To cover the top of the pouch I used orange washi tape and stamped it with a crackle stamp and black stazon ink.
  • I marked my holes and re-punched with a standard 1/4″ office hole punch.
  • The charm on the ribbon was made using a 1″ circle punch, pumpkin scrapbook paper, a flat bottle cap, 1″ clear domed glass for jewelry making.

Celebrate Christmas with Graphic 45 (edited)

Graphic 45 Twas the Night before Christmas Group

(Celebrate Christmas with Graphic 45 was a card class that I gave in November of 2014.)

In this class, I showed how to make use of the varied patterns and bits & pieces to create layered pieces with charm and style.

The Vintage Christmas collection from Graphic 45 is based off the classic tale “Twas the Night Before Christmas.  This collection is packed with all the fun and traditional images of this festive season. Reds, greens, gold and cream – this collection will remind you of all the special moments in this special time.

Autumn, the year’s last, loveliest smile…

Autumn Trees with watermark

I’d love Autumn even more if it’d turn right back into Spring.

I’ve been saying for days, I need to take a picture of these beautiful trees.

Yesterday morning, we got about an hour of beautiful sunshine between the rain and clouds.

So… I ran right out to take this picture.

I love all the vibrant colors.

(This is the view I used to have out my bathroom window until they put a couple houses in my way.)

Have a great day!

Getting ready for a Craft Bazaar?

Cinnamon Cookie Ornament

Today I’m putting the finishing touches on the one and only craft show I do all year.

My house still smells great from these Cinnamon Cookie Ornaments.Altered VersaGrip Magnetic Sign Holder

This month’s Deflect’o Design Team box was perfect in helping me get ready for the show.

I love this flexible, magnetic sign holder.  I wanted to give the holder a little vintage flair

so I sponged “Spiced Chai” Stazon ink to the base and wrapped the base with a

pine stem.  A little washi tape, ribbon and red jingle bell (of course) and my display

stand was finished.  I love that it sticks perfectly onto my metal mini cupcake tin.

Decoupage Halloween Treat Bowl

Smoothfoam Halloween Treat Bowl with Watermark

I made this decoupage Halloween Treat Bowl with the help of my 4-year-old grandson, Nick.  (It may or may not have gone a little quicker without his help.)  Since Halloween is for the kids anyway, it didn’t matter if the paper was perfectly smooth.

Confession:  I’m a little bit of a craft hoarder.  (neatly contained though)  I have been hanging onto this Martha Stewart Halloween tissue paper for a few years.  I guess I’ve been waiting for just the perfect project like this one.

Smoothfoam Halloween Treat Bowl Products with Watermark

To make the project you’re going to need a few simple ingredients:

  • 12″ Smoothfoam half-ball
  • Mod Podge Gloss Lustre
  • Halloween-themed tissue paper
  • Foam Brush or Small Paintbrush
  • Eager 4-year-old  (optional)

Cut the tissue paper into small squares.  I started with 3″ squares and added some random sizes. Decoupage the tissue paper onto the half ball with Mod Podge

Smoothfoam Halloween Treat Bowl Bottom

Tip:  For my bowl, I started on the bottom and worked my way up.  At the time, I thought it was a good idea. By the time I got to the top of the bowl I was getting a little more random in how I placed my tissue paper. Next time I think I’ll start at the top of the bowl and work my way down. I really like the way the bottom turned out.

Fill with treats and enjoy.  (don’t forget to buy an extra bag or two for yourself)

Disclosure:  This project was created for and sponsored by Smoothfoam.

Getting ready for that time of year again…

I know, I know… Many of you may think I might be rushing this a little bit.

But… as a designer and crafter I’m starting to feel a time crunch.

So many projects, so little time.  (time’s a wasting)

Christmas Crafting 2

Something I look forward to getting every month is my box of goodies from Deflecto.

Getting this box is like receiving a Christmas present.

So thoughtfully packed with colored tissue paper.

I really need to take of picture of the box. (so much fun)

This months box was stuffed full of storage and organizing products.

One of the many cool storage products I received from Deflecto Craft Solutions was this

great carousel organizer.  This particular carousel has nine canisters, six 3″ and three 6″.

The carousel spins and is a great place to store all my holiday embellishments in one place.

I also received some great storage cubes, which made me want/need to reorganize my studio.

With all the things I collect (I mean use) I needed more.

Deflecto generously offered to send me some more cubes.  (you’ve got to love that!)

I will post more pictures of my organizing efforts after they arrive.

Refrigerator Magnets

Another cool “NEW, COMING SOON” product is the:  Customizable Magnetic Craft Sheets

White magnetic sheets can be painted or papered. Cuts easily with scissors or craft punches.
Great for kids projects
.

I decided to make “refrigerator art” using my magnetic sheets.

I covered the white side of the magnetic sheet with decorative paper and cut it out with a die-cut.

Save the Date

Save the Date 2014

I’ve clung onto Summer as long as I could. Now it’s time to start working on this years Holiday Workshop. As much as I love Summer, I really LOVE crafting for Fall and Christmas.
(Did you notice I said Christmas and not Winter? As soon as December is over I’m ready for Spring.)

Thank You to everyone who took the time to answer my questions regarding the date of the Workshop. The majority choose Saturday, November 15th. The date is set and confirmed and I’m excited to jump right in.   More Details coming soon.
