Frosty Winter Wonderland

Create your own Frosty Winter Wonderland using Smoothfoam’s Snowman and Tree Shapes and a 6″ Smoothfoam Disc.

Supplies Used:

Snowman Body
2″ x 3 1/2″ Tree
6″ x 1″ Disc
Textured Embossing Paste
Acrylic Paints: White, Green and Brown
Paintbrush
Stickles Glitter Glues: Frosted Lace, Diamond
Micro Brads: Black, Red
Bamboo Skewer
Orange Marker
Brown Ink-pad
Ribbon, Buttons and Christmas Embellishments
Small Red Doll Sock
Craft Glue
Old Toothbrush

Directions:

Cover the Snowman, Tree and Disc with the textured embossing paste using your finger. Allow to thoroughly dry.
Gently dust the Snowman and Disc with brown ink using the paintbrush to accent the texture of the paste.
Paint the Snowman with Frosted Lace Glitter Glue.
Paint the Tree with Green Acrylic Paint, speckle white paint onto tree using an old toothbrush.
Paint the Tree and Disc with Diamond Glitter Glue.
Decorate the Snowman with Small Micro Brads for the eyes, the tip of a bamboo skewer colored orange for the nose, small red doll sock with the tip tied with twine for his hat, teeny tiny red buttons and a red and cream gingham bow.
Insert Red Micro Brads into the tree for the Christmas Lights.
Assemble onto 6″ base and glue into place.

Handmade Holiday: Sew Simple Snowflake Pillow

One of my favorite things to do during the holidays (besides eating Christmas cookies)

is to make things to decorate my home. My snowflake pillow is a simple sewing project

that makes a warm and cozy winter accent.

You can leave this pillow out long after the holidays are over.

For my Snowflake Pillow I used: (*affiliate link)

Two 13″ x 13″ pieces of Premium Grey Felt
9″ x 12″ Cream Felt
Red Buttons
Fairfield Poly-Fil Premium Polyester Fiber, White, 1 Bag, 12-Ounce*
Felt Snowflakes
Beacon Fabri-Tac Permanent Adhesive, 4-Ounce*
Sewing Machine

Directions:

Cut a 4″ x 12″ wavy piece from the cream felt.
Add a small amount of Fabri Tac Glue on the back of the cream felt to keep it in place before sewing. Place that piece 1/2″ up from the bottom of the grey 13″ piece of felt.
Glue Snowflakes in place. Hand sew the red buttons in the center.
Machine sew around outer edges of the large cream piece.
Machine sew between each of the snowflake arms.
Turn felt pieces right sides together and sew with a 1/2″ seam allowance.
Leave a 3″ opening at the bottom to add fiberfill.
Turn pillow back around and stuff with fiberfill.
Hand sew the pillow closed.

Christmas Cards with Serendipity Stamps

Now that the weather is cooler and the calendar has turned to November,

For Nick’s 4th birthday (a few weeks ago) I tagged along with him, Warren and

their mom for a fun afternoon down on the farm.

It was such a beautiful day and we got so many great pictures, I decided that I needed

to make a mini album for Nick.

Nick’s album was made using the flexible pouches that I got this month in my Deflecto Design Team

box. As soon as I saw these flexible pouches I thought “mini albums”.

I love how easy the album was to put together.

The inside of the pouch measures 3″ x 5 1/4″ so I chose pictures that could easily be cut down.
To cover the top of the pouch I used orange washi tape and stamped it with a crackle stamp and black stazon ink.
I marked my holes and re-punched with a standard 1/4″ office hole punch.
The charm on the ribbon was made using a 1″ circle punch, pumpkin scrapbook paper, a flat bottle cap, 1″ clear domed glass for jewelry making.

Autumn, the year’s last, loveliest smile…

I’d love Autumn even more if it’d turn right back into Spring.

I’ve been saying for days, I need to take a picture of these beautiful trees.

Yesterday morning, we got about an hour of beautiful sunshine between the rain and clouds.

So… I ran right out to take this picture.

I love all the vibrant colors.

(This is the view I used to have out my bathroom window until they put a couple houses in my way.)

Getting ready for a Craft Bazaar?

Today I’m putting the finishing touches on the one and only craft show I do all year.

My house still smells great from these Cinnamon Cookie Ornaments. Altered VersaGrip Magnetic Sign Holder

This month’s Deflect’o Design Team box was perfect in helping me get ready for the show.

I love this flexible, magnetic sign holder. I wanted to give the holder a little vintage flair

so I sponged “Spiced Chai” Stazon ink to the base and wrapped the base with a

pine stem. A little washi tape, ribbon and red jingle bell (of course) and my display

stand was finished. I love that it sticks perfectly onto my metal mini cupcake tin.

Decoupage Halloween Treat Bowl

I made this decoupage Halloween Treat Bowl with the help of my 4-year-old grandson, Nick. (It may or may not have gone a little quicker without his help.) Since Halloween is for the kids anyway, it didn’t matter if the paper was perfectly smooth.

Confession: I’m a little bit of a craft hoarder. (neatly contained though) I have been hanging onto this Martha Stewart Halloween tissue paper for a few years. I guess I’ve been waiting for just the perfect project like this one.

To make the project you’re going to need a few simple ingredients:

12″ Smoothfoam half-ball
Mod Podge Gloss Lustre
Halloween-themed tissue paper
Foam Brush or Small Paintbrush
Eager 4-year-old (optional)

Cut the tissue paper into small squares. I started with 3″ squares and added some random sizes. Decoupage the tissue paper onto the half ball with Mod Podge

Tip: For my bowl, I started on the bottom and worked my way up. At the time, I thought it was a good idea. By the time I got to the top of the bowl I was getting a little more random in how I placed my tissue paper. Next time I think I’ll start at the top of the bowl and work my way down. I really like the way the bottom turned out.

Fill with treats and enjoy. (don’t forget to buy an extra bag or two for yourself)

Best Friends Mini Album
