Simple Summer Vase

Create a Simple Summer Vase using Transparent Adhesive Vinyl from StyleTechCraft.

Transparent vinyl is great when you just want to add a subtle touch of color.

It’s great for using on windows, glassware and just about anywhere else you want a unique look.

To create my Simple Vase I used:       (*affiliate link)

Directions:

  1. Cut several flower shapes using the Silhouette Cameo* and the Sky Blue Transparent Vinyl.  Don’t have a electronic die cutter?  The transparent vinyl can be cut using various metal dies.
  2. Cut leaves out of the teal vinyl.
  3. Using the weeding tool, I carefully removed the negative spaces in and around the flowers and leaves.
  4. Place a piece of Vinyl Transfer Tape* over the flower image.  Apply transfer tape onto the cylinder vase and rub over the vinyl using a vinyl scraper tool to eliminate bubbles.
  5. Remove transfer tape.
  6. Repeat with the leaves.

Allow vinyl to cure for several days.  (Hand washing is recommended.)

I added a piece of white paper inside the vase so you can see the pattern better.

It’s hard to see in this picture the variation between the sky blue and teal vinyl.

I Love You a Bushel and a Peck…

A DIY Sign for Valentine’s Day or for everyday..

using Styletech Craft Vinyl and my Silhouette Cameo.

My mom loved to sing this song.

She sang it to us when we were kids and then she sang it again to our kids.

This song and sign brings back all the warm fuzzies and good memories.

A Perfect Love Song for Valentine’s Day and everyday.

To make the “I Love you a Bushel and a Peck” sign I used:

Directions:

  1. Using the “Bushel and a Peck” SVG cut file and the Silhouette Cameo re-size the image to fit inside your frame.
  2. To keep it simple, I cut the image out twice using both the black and magenta glitter vinyl.
  3. Remove the excess vinyl (the negative pieces) using a Craft Vinyl Weeding Tool* or pick.
  4. Remove all the hearts and flourishes from the black vinyl.
  5. Remove the words from the magenta vinyl.
  6. Use Vinyl Transfer Tape* to pick up and apply the words directly onto the piece of scrapbook paper.  Gently rub over paper.  Remove transfer tape.
  7. You can re-use the transfer tape to pick up the hearts and flourishes.
  8. Carefully line up the hearts and flourish over the words.  Remove transfer tape.
  9. Add finished sign into frame and enjoy.

Tip:  If you’re good, you can carefully pick up the words from the magenta glitter vinyl and use it on a separate project.  Like the “Hug” cup down below.

From the 1950’s Musical “Guys and Dolls”…Sang by Doris Day

I love you a bushel and a peck
A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck
A hug around the neck and a barrel and a heap
A barrel and a heap and I’m talkin’ in my sleep

About you, about you
‘Cause I love you a bushel and a peck
You bet your purdy neck I do
A doodle oodle ooh doo
A doodle oodle oodle ooh doo

Translucent Vinyl Suncatcher

When I received the Translucent Vinyl from Tape Technologies,

I knew it would be perfect for making a Suncatcher.

The translucent vinyl comes in several great colors to choose from.

To make my Suncatcher I used a framed glass sample I rescued from the garbage.

You could also use a small frame and glue the glass into the frame.

To create my shapes I used my Silhouette Cameo*and Jillibean Soup’s Floral Mandala cut file.

I used the Vinyl Transfer Tape* to overlay the blue onto the pink.

I then transferred both images onto the glass to create the Suncatcher.

To create a little more sparkle I added adhesive rhinestones onto the glass.

DIY Bloom Planters

“bloom where you are planted”

A little Inspiration for my Summer Flowers…

I’m not sure if it’s a subliminal message or a direct request.  (to my plants that is)

BLOOM!

I picked up these beautiful purple flowers over the week-end and decided to spruce up a couple

of plain pots into something special.

FYI…the name of the plant with Campanula, a partial shade loving perennial.

How to make a DIY Bloom planter…              (*affiliate link)

  1.  Paint terra cotta pot with 2 coats of white paint.
  2. Brush a thin layer of purple paint along top band.  (no need to be perfect)
  3. Lightly sand pot for a distressed look.
  4. Using a cut file and the Silhouette Cameo*, cut the saying out of the purple glitter vinyl.
  5. Apply the saying onto the pot using transfer paper.  Smooth into place and remove transfer paper.

The blue ceramic planter was plain and simple until I added stripes using the glitter vinyl,

and applied the light blue glittered vinyl words using a Vinyl Transfer Tape*.

Perfect decorative accent for my summer front porch.  (or a great gift idea)

A Cup of Attitude

After I finished personalizing my new cup, I proudly ran downstairs to show it to my husband.

“I don’t get it”  was his response.

It’s a cup of Attitude”, I replied.  (I still don’t think he got it.)

I’m generally a very sweet and nice person.

But sometimes…if you could only hear the snarky comments rolling around in my head,

you just might think otherwise.  I keep it to myself most of the time.  (or at least I try)

The struggle is real.

To personalize my cup…                              (*affiliate links)

  •  I used my Silhouette Cameo* to cut out a cute saying from Jillibean Soup out of translucent

Self Adhesive Glitter Vinyl Sheets- by Styletech from Tape Technologies*

  • I picked up the plain white cup at Dollar Tree* for only $1.00.  (*affiliate link)

Dollar Tree is the perfect place to find inexpensive glassware to personalize with vinyl.

Directions:

  • Clean the cup with warm soapy water to remove any grease or residue.
  • Apply the hot pink glittered  vinyl words onto the cup using a Vinyl Transfer Tape*.
  • Next, add the gray glittered vinyl words.
  • The Vinyl Transfer Tape*  makes it easy to line up the words.
  • Wait 4 days for the adhesive to fully cure before using the cup.
  • It is recommended to hand wash only.  (I have put mine in the dishwasher, just saying.)

If you need to keep your attitude a little more subdued…

the cup also makes a great pen holder.

A Creative Mess…

A Creative Mess is better than idle Tidiness.

I love this saying, it fits me to a tee.

I do like a neat and tidy craft space, but when I’m working on a project, it’s a complete mess.

I created the saying using a design file on my Silhouette CAMEO 3 Wireless Cutting Machine*

using 12″ x 12″ Adhesive Glitter Vinyl Sheets by StyleTech*.  I laid all three of my vinyl colors

down on the cutting mat at the same time and cut my saying with one pass of my machine.

I Love Square Frames and a Good Bargain…

I found this 90’s framed print at a garage sale for 25¢ and painted it black.

I added my words onto a piece of white cardstock using transfer paper and adhered the white

cardstock onto an extra piece of glitter vinyl.

A Quick and Easy, Thrifty Home Décor piece for my Crafty Space.
