Sweet as Honey Pocket Notebook

How to Create a Pocket Notebook Album…

If you love yellow and black your going to love the bee inspired paper pack from DCWV.

Once I looked through the paper pack and  saw the gold embossed patterned papers I knew

it needed to be made into a mini album.

I used the Eileen Hull Notebook die along with the 12″ x 12″ paper pad to create my album.

You can find the DCWV Honey Dear Premium Paper Stack exclusively at JoAnn Fabrics.

Directions:

  • Cut two 6″ x 8-1/2″pieces of decorative scrapbook paper for the front and inside of the cover.
  • Lay decorative scrapbook paper (design side up) on the  Xyron Creative Station* crank the handle to run the paper through the machine.  As it moves through the Xyron Creative Station it adds adhesive to the back side of the paper.
  • Easy to use and it doesn’t need any electricity.
  • I like using the Xyron Creative Station* when making mini books because you get complete coverage, no wrinkling, no bubbles!

  • Cut a piece of mat board 6″ x 8-1/2″.
  • Adhere the decorative paper on each side of the mat board.
  • Lay the covered mat board over the notebook die* sandwiched between two cutting plates.
  • Crank the handle of the Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutting Machine*and run the die through the machine.  The Big Shot will cut and score the mat board.

  • The notebook die creases the center of mat board as it goes through the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine* making it easy to fold the cover for your mini album.

  • Cut a 2 1/4″ x 5″ strip of decorative paper to use for the spine and run it through the Xyron Creative Station*.  Adhere to spine.
  • Included in the Honey Dear Premium Stack is a two pages with twelve 3″ x 4″ journaling cards.  Choose one of the journaling cards from the page to embellish the front cover of the notebook.

  • Choose 5 coordinating patterns from the Honey Dear Premium Paper Stack.  Cut the pages using the notebook die.
  • Crease on the center score lines.
  • Using gold and white twine, wrap the twine around the inside creases and around the outside of the book cover to secure the pages.

  • After I had all my pages together, I tied all the piece of twine together in one knot on the spine and tucked in the ends.

A cute little pocket notebook for taking notes or adding pictures.

After making the pocket notebook…

I decided to make a gift card holder with tag using the Gift Card Folder & Label Die*.

To make the Gift Card Holder:

  • Cut a piece of 6″ x 9″ paper from the Honey Décor Premium Paper Stack.
  • Lay the paper over the Gift Card Folder Die* sandwiched between two cutting plates.
  • Crank the handle of the Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutting Machine*and run the die through the machine.  The die cuts and scores the gift card folder.
  •  Fold along the score lines on the three sides to create a little pocket.
  • Adhere bottom three flaps together using a xyron tape runner*.
  • Cut a 1″ strip of coordinating paper to create a band.  Adhere the band to the holder using the xyron tape runner*.
  • The Gift Card Folder Die* also comes with card insert and tab to use for holding gift cards.

Directions:

  • Cut two pieces of Red and Black Buffalo Plaid paper 6″ x 8″.
  • Run both pieces of paper design side up through the Xyron Creative Station*.  As the paper moves through the Creative Station it adds adhesive to the underneath side of the paper.  You get full and complete adhesive covering on the paper.
  • Cut two pieces of Mat Board* 6″ x 8″.
  • Adhere the buffalo plaid paper onto each one of the mat board.  (underneath will be plain)

  • Lay covered matboard on top of the house ornament die and sandwich it between two sizzix cutting plates.  Run the die, mat board and cutting plates through the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine*.  The Big Shot will cut out the house shape and two tiny houses that you can use on a later project.
  • Cut two houses shapes.

A Merry Little Holiday House bits and pieces.

  • Carefully fold on the scored lines.
  • Cut off the top tab with the two holes on both houses.  (This tab is used if you want to make it an ornament.)
  • You will also need to cut the bottom flap from one of the houses.
  • Use Super Glue to assemble the house. Glue all sides of the house together before gluing the roof tabs.  Leave bottom tab unglued so that you can add a small battery operated tea light.

  • For the Roof:  Cut a piece of Black Corrugated paper 2 1/2″ x 4″.  Fold in half and glue to top of the roof.
  • Place two small pieces of white matboard over the window section of the ornament house die and run through the big shot die cutting machine.  Trim around matboard to create two small windows.  Glue windows frames onto house.

  • Add the “Merry” chipboard sticker from the Christmas Market Chipboard Accents to the front of the house.
  • Make wreath out of a 6″ piece of the craft pine stem.
  • Create a small bow from the red twine and glue onto front of wreath.
  • Glue wreath to front of the house.

Cheery Little Birthday Card

A Cherry Little Birthday Card

Who doesn’t love receiving a Cheery Little Birthday Card?

I know I do.

This week the Xyron Design Team is all about Lawn Fawn…

and I had a blast.  I loved using their dies to make this fun card.

Here’s what I used:                     (*affiliate link)

  • When working with small dies, I like to run the paper through my Xyron 3″ Sticker Maker*.
  • Rub and peel the top cover off the paper.

  • Run the paper and die through your die cutter for the perfect little sticker.
  • Just the perfect amount of adhesive and so easy to use.

  • Look how cute this terra cotta pot turned out.
  • Ink the edges of the paper pieces with Vintage Photo Ink* for a realistic looking pot.

The card was so easy to put together using the Xyron Sticker Maker* for all my little pieces.

A really fun card to make.

A special thank you to Lawn Fawn for sending the dies and paper used on this project.

A Plate Full of Thanks

This month I started working with a company called Tape Technologies, the maker of

Styletch Vinyl, as their New Design Team Coordinator.

Being that it’s November…

I decided my first project should be something that I could use for Thanksgiving.

I perused my new collection of 12″ x 12″ adhesive vinyl and decided on the Sunflower

Transparent Glitter Vinyl sheet.  (fyi…Styletech has a great selection of vinyl to work with.)

You can find a 10 assorted pack of 12×12 Glitter Self Adhesive Vinyl Sheets* on Amazon.

Some of you may gasp…

when I tell you that I still don’t have one of those fancy electronic die cutting machines.

(although it may be on this year’s Christmas list)

To begin this simple project…  I cut the word “Thanks” using a thin steel die and my

Sizzix Big Shot Die-Cutting/Embossing Machine*.  I cut out 8 for my large plate and

one for my small plate.  Because I only wanted the “thanks” around the edge of the plate

I cut the flourish off the bottom of the “k”.

After figuring out my plate placement, I placed my die-cut “thanks” onto a flat surface and

picked up the die-cut with my Vinyl Transfer Tape*.

Once on the transfer paper I peeled back the protective layer and secured it in place on my

plate.  I burnished the transferred die and removed the transfer paper.

Because I couldn’t help myself I added another die cut “Thanks” with the flourish in tack onto

a cute little thrift store find.

FYI…While I would not place the plates in the dishwasher, I did try to see how it would hold up to hand-washing.   It did fine.
