Directions:

  • Cut a 2 ½” x 5″ piece of cream cardstock.  Place the cardstock into the Xyron Create A Sticker Mini*.  Crank the handle of the Sticker Maker to run the paper through the machine.  As it runs through the machine it adds a complete layer of adhesive to the back of the paper.
  • Cut a gold foiled paper and run it through the Xyron Create A Sticker Mini*.

Elegant and Easy Holiday Card

  • Place the “believe” die sandwiched between the Mini Maker cutting plates.  Turn the handle to run the die through the Mini Maker Die Cut Machine.
  • By running the paper through the Xyron Create A Sticker Mini* first, it creates a sticker out of the die-cut piece.
  • Cut the gold background and stars using the adhesive gold foiled paper, die, and the Mini Maker.

Elegant and Easy Holiday Card

  • Cut a 3 ¾” x 5″ cream cardstock layer.  Place the gold foiled believe background, believe words and gold foiled stars directly onto the cardstock layer.
  • Place several thin 3D foam squares* onto the back of the cardstock layer.
  • Adhere the layer onto the front of a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” cream card.
  • Tie a simple gold ribbon around the front of the card.

How to make a Warm & Cozy Snowflake Christmas Card

using the Sweater Embossing Folder* from Sizzix* and Eileen Hull.

I have a “thing” for cable-knit sweaters. (just ask my family)

So it comes as no surprise how much I love this new embossing folder.

It’s perfect for creating quick and easy cards.

Warm & Cozy Embossed Sweater Card

Directions:

  • To create the embossed sweater layer, place a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of cream cardstock into the Sweater Embossing Folder*.  Place the embossing folder onto the Sizzix Big Shot* platform.   Crank the handle of the Big Shot* to run the embossing folder through the machine.
  • Adhere the embossed layer onto the blueberry cardstock layer. Adhere those layers onto a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ cream cardstock base.
  • Add adhesive to the back of the wood snowflake and adhere to the front of the card. Add the adhesive pearl to the center of the snowflake.
  • Tie a small bow and glue it onto the top of the snowflake.
  • Using a computer generated font, print the words “warm & cozy” onto a piece of cream cardstock.  Cut the cardstock into a strip with a v notch on each end. Place thin foam mounting squares under the cardstock strip and add to the front of the card under the wood snowflake.

FYI…This is a thick card.  You will need extra postage to mail it.  (It might be best to hand deliver.)

DIY Holiday Sled Ornaments

I love a good dollar store DIY. (especially Holiday DIYs)

I thought to myself just the other day. It’s no wonder crafter’s go a little crazy this time of year.

There are so many projects to try and so little time to make them all.

I picked up plaid wood sled ornaments at Dollar Tree* the other day

and couldn’t wait to start decorating on them.

Directions:

  • Give the wood sleds a light sanding using fine-grit sandpaper or a sanding block.
  • Mask off sections of the sled with removable tape and paint with acrylic paint or stains.
  • Lightly sand over the sleds to smooth the grains.
  • For a finished look, seal over the painted and stained area with Mod Podge Matte Sealer.

You COULD leave the sled just as they are and be happy. But I decided to take it a step further.

Holiday Sled Ornaments

  • I love adding StyleTechCraft vinyl to projects to personalize them.  (everything’s a little better with vinyl)
  • I used my Silhouette Cameo Electronic Die Cutting Machine*and an SVG Holiday File from the Silhouette Store to cut the words out of the vinyl.
  • Remove the excess vinyl from in and around the cut letters.
  • Place a piece of vinyl transfer tape* over the vinyl words. Rub over the vinyl transfer tape* with a vinyl scraper tool to ensure the vinyl words have transferred.  Lift and remove from the backing paper.

  • Rub over the vinyl words with the scraper tool to make sure the vinyl words have transferred to the sled.

  • Gently lift and remove the transfer paper.

Before I applied the vinyl, I lightly splattered the sled with white acrylic paint and an old toothbrush.

  • This is the “Be Merry” sled before and after.
  • On this sled I painted the body of the sled with acrylic paint and stained the runners of the sled with a walnut stain.
  • I created a small Holiday swag using a small piece of a pine craft stem, jingle bells and ribbon and hot glued it onto the sled.

Cozy Watercolor Leaves

Cozy Watercolor Leaves Cardmaking Tips…

  • One of my favorite tips for die-cutting small pieces is to run the paper through the Xyron Creative Station* to add a layer of adhesive to the back before I die-cut. The paper pieces become stickers which make adhering them to cards very easy.
  • Die-cut the leaves out of cream cardstock.
  • Watercolor the leaves using ink from an ink pad and a waterbrush. I applied the ink directly onto a lamented piece of paper (or use a non-porous surface) and picked up the ink with the waterbrush.

Cozy Watercolor Leaves

Cozy Watercolor Leaves Cardmaking Tips Continued

  • The card measures 5″ x 6 ½”.
  • Cut a moss green cardstock layer 4¾” x 6 ¼”.
  • Using the large circle die from the die set, cut a hole in the center of the cardstock layer. Adhere the layer onto a cream cardstock base.
  • Cut the words “let’s get cozy” out of champagne luster adhesive vinyl. Remove backing from the vinyl and apply it to the center of the circle.
  • Build a layered wreath on the top and bottom of the circle. Add small dots using the small circles dies from the set to the top of the card.

It’s so much fun to decorate for Fall with its vibrant and colorful hues.

I’d love Fall even more if it didn’t turn into Winter after it was all over.

Fall Paper Crafted Home Décor

Directions:

  • Cut two pieces of Double-Sided Adhesive Foam 5″ x 6″ and 4″ x 5″.
  • Cut two pieces of orange plaid paper from the paper crafting paper the same size as the foam.
  • Remove the protective coating from one side of the foam and place the paper onto the adhesive.
  • Place pumpkin die outlines over the foam and die-cut the shape using the Crossover II Die-Cutting Machine*.  You may need to run the die back and forth a couple of times through the machine to make sure all the layers have been cut.
  • Repeat the process with the die-cutting of the stem and leaves.

Fall Paper Crafted Home Decor

  • For the words used on the front of the pumpkin, run a small strip of striped paper through the Xyron Sticker Maker Mini*.
  • Place the word dies onto the paper and die-cut.  (you may want to put a small piece of tape on the dies to keep them in place)

Fall Paper Crafted Home Décor

  • I have a weakness for old frames and I love to pick them up whenever I see a good deal. (I think this one was a quarter.) It now makes the project an Up-Cycled project which makes it extra special.
  • Remove the glass and the backing from the frame and spray with ivory spray paint.

Fall Paper Crafted Home Decor

  • The frame measures 7 1/4″ x 7 1/4″ with a 6″ x 6″ opening.
  • Replace the 90’s picture with a 6″ x 6″ piece of coordinating scrapbook paper. (I placed the glass behind the scrapbook paper to give the project more stability. Also, I will have it if I want to reuse the frame for another project later.)
  • Remove the adhesive from the back of the pumpkin pieces and place it inside the frame.

DIY Vintage Pumpkin Truck

DIY Vintage Pumpkin Truck

For the Love of Old Trucks…

When I first shared Eileen’s New Vintage Truck in June, I said, “Can you imagine it as an old

rusty pickup filled with miniature pumpkins?” Well, here it is.

Except it’s not rusty looking and old…

instead I tricked it out with a shiny new paint job.  (so to speak)

Vintage Pumpkin Truck

How to Create a Vintage Pumpkin Truck with Eileen Hull Vintage Truck Die* from Sizzix.

  • Instead of painting the pieces of the truck, I used adhesive vinyl on the truck parts before die-cutting them.
  • Cut a piece of mat board slightly larger than the shape you are going to die-cut.
  • Apply vinyl on both sides of the mat board and die-cut the shape using the Vintage Truck Die* and the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine*.

  • When all the pieces have been die-cut, go around the edges with a black calligraphy paint marker. Adding paint to the edges will cover up the white core of the mat board and give the pieces more detail.
  • Adhere the pieces of the truck together using Rapid Fuse Adhesive*.

Adapting the truck to carry a wider load.

  • I wanted the truck to have a wider body, to carry a larger load.
  • After die-cutting the bottom piece for the truck bed, cut the piece in half.
  • I cut a second piece of mat board 2″ x 6″.  (or you could even cut it a little wider than that)
  • Glue the scored die-cut pieces to the bottom of the larger mat board using Rapid Fuse Adhesive*.

DIY Holiday Planner

DIY Holiday Planner

Creating a Holiday Planner…

It’s never too early to start thinking about the Holidays.

So…when Xyron asked me to do a Christmas in July project using the Xyron Holiday Bundle,

of course, I said YES!

To be honest, my first thought was to run over to my local scrapbook store

and buy something new to use in my project.

Christmas is my weakness, and I have so much leftover from previous years.

I decided to “Scrap my Stash” instead. In the end, I used paper from 3-4 different collections.

(I’m so proud of my self-control.)

My Holiday Planner measures 6″ x 8″.

It is big enough to write in but small enough to grab and go.

Xyron Creative Station

DIY Planner Details:

  • Cut two 6″ x 8″ pieces of decorative paper for the front cover and two 6″ x 8″ pieces for the inside front and back covers.
  • Lay the paper into the Xyron 9″ Creative Station* design side up. Crank the handle of the Creative Station* to run it through the machine. As it goes through the machine it adds a complete layer of adhesive to the back of the paper. No electricity needed, easy to use.
  • Peel the decorative paper from the protective liner and place it onto a 6″ x 8″ piece of chipboard. Cover the front and back sides of the chipboard.
  • I love using the Xyron 9″ Creative Station* when I make albums.  I get complete coverage and everything lays smooth, no wrinkles.
  • I like to use a craft mat and craft knife to trim away any excess paper.
  • A sanding block is great for smoothing out the edges of the covered chipboard.

Xyron Disposable Sticker Maker

  • Cut decorative strips to add the front and back of the planner.  If you’ve never made a planner/album like this, you’ll want to give particular thought to the placement of the strips on the back cover to make sure they line up with the front of the planner.
  • I used coordinating decorative scrapbook paper to create a frame for the front of my planner using the frame die from The Maker’s Movement.

DIY Holiday Planner Pages

  • I created several different types of pages using a word program for the inside of the planner.
  • As you can see, it doesn’t have to be anything fancy.
  • Once you get your cover finished and your inside pages created, you’ll want to bind it all together using a binding machine.  I used an old Bind it All Machine.  You can also use The Cinch Book Binding Machine*.

  • When cutting out the butterflies, I set my machine on heavy cardstock and used “3 passes” to cut out the butterflies.
  • Cut the butterflies using several shades of opal vinyl. Place the butterflies into a Dotted Embossing Folder, run the embossing folder through the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine*.
  • Use a fine tip black deco color paint marker* to add black dots over the embossed dots.
