The Bow Maker Die for Paper Crafters

I recently got a chance to play with the Bow Maker Die from The Maker’s Movement.

While I will admit that I was confused for a brief moment on how it worked.

Once I figured out how easy it was to use, I wanted to share this simple project

and tutorial with you.

The Bow Maker is a four-piece die set that is deep etched, which makes it so easy to cut through cardstock, thick paper, and even fabric. They are great for greeting cards, birthday cards, scrapbooking, gift tags, and much more fun projects.

I decorated a little jar I found at  Dollar Tree and topped it off with a cute little paper bow.

It makes a quick, simple, and inexpensive gift.

Materials Used:     (*affiliate link)

Directions:

  1. Die-cut decorative scrapbook paper using the Bow Maker Die.  The dies cut four pieces, two bow loops, a center, and a bow base.
  2. Gently curl the paper on the two bow loops using your fingers or a small round marker to make the paper pliable for bending.
  3. Bend the ends over and glue to the underneath side of the paper using a quick setting glue like Rapid Fuse*.  (you could also use a small glue dot)
  4. Stack and glue the bow loops onto the bow base.
  5. Glue the center around the middle of the bow.

Washi Tape Heart

Washi Tape Heart Card

I love a clean and simple card, and this Washi Tape Heart Card is so simple to make.

To make the Washi Tape Heart Card…

  • Create the cut-out heart layer by cutting various sizes of hearts on a 4 3/4″ x 6 3/4″ piece of white cardstock.  I used a  Silhouette Cameo Electronic Die Cutting Machine*.  (You can also use punches or dies to create the hearts.)
  • Center the cut-out heart layer onto a white 5″ x 7″ card and lightly traced the hearts with a pencil.
  • Cover the heart outlines with several different strips of coordinating washi tape pieces.
  • Use a tape runner to adhere to the cut-out heart layer onto the front of the card, aligning it with the washi tape.

A Clean and Simple Valentines Day Card.

Just stamp a simple greeting onto the front of the card,

or you could cut the words out of red glossy craft vinyl as I did.

I’m glad my husband doesn’t read my blog.

This card will make a perfect Valentine’s Day card for him.

I want to share with you the perfect organizer for holding washi tape.

The small three-drawer organizer* from Deflecto was made with washi tape in mind.

Each of the three drawers are divided and can hold a lot of washi tape.

The small three-drawer organizer* is also great for holding small ink pads and paintbrushes.

The first thing that came to mind when I looked at the Special Delivery Card Kit was Valentines.

How cute is the postage stamp die?

A little more LOVE…

How to make a Love Coaster with Easel

A Quick and Easy, DIY, Valentine’s Decoration or Gift.

The “Love Coaster with Easel” is one of the projects that I made at the StyleTechCraft

booth while at Creativation last week.

Everyone loved how easy it is to make an easel using a clothespin.

To make the Love Coaster…

  • You can use Plain White Square Coasters* or…I made my scalloped coaster using a steel rule die and white chipboard.
  • Cut a heart out of Translucent Red Glittered Vinyl from Tape Technologies using a thin metal die.  Apply the glitter heart to the coaster using a transfer paper made for vinyl.
  • Using my Silhouette Cameo Electronic Die Cutting Machine*, I cut the word “love” out of Black Glittered Translucent Vinyl and applied it directly over my heart using transfer paper.
  • I edged the sides of my coaster in silver, using a Silver Leaf Paint Pen*.

How to make an easel using a clothespin.

To make the Easel…

  • Glue a Wooden Clothespin* on the back of the coaster with Rapid Fuse Adhesive*.
  • Pull the clothespin open just enough so that the round metal spring comes slightly out of its groove.  (Some clothespins work better than others so you might need a little luck.)
  • To keep the clothespin from snapping shut…glue the top ends of the clothespin together.

A couple of guys at the show made theirs into Valentine’s cards.

I told them all they had to do was add a sweet note inside and, they were set.

Maybe I should have told them including flowers and chocolates is also a good idea.

a little Valentine Love

valentines-frame-sues-creative-workshop-4136

When I flipped over the calendar this morning it hit me.

Less than 2 weeks until Valentine’s Day.

After all these years…

it’s still fun to throw a few hearts around to make sure he doesn’t forget.

I created this cute little Valentine’s decoration using a clear 4″ x 6″

acrylic craft frame from Deflecto Craft Solutions, scrapbook paper and stickers.

The sticker in the middle says “I belong with you & you belong with me”.

I think he’ll get the hint.

Making Mini Resin Frames

Resin Frame and Magnet 2788

I had this idea that I’d been wanting to try…

to create little dimensional framed artwork using miniature frames filled with resin.

It really is pretty easy to do.  The only hard part for me was waiting for the resin to cure.

They would be great for weddings or parties.

Customize the frames to use for table numbers, centerpieces, desert tables and more.

There’s a lot of possibilities.

Resin Magnet Supplies 916

To Create a Mini Frame…

Materials:

Directions:

  1. Remove the backing and glass from frame.
  2. Apply Rose Gold Metallic Lustre or paint of choice onto frame.
  3. Adhere decorative paper onto mat-board.   Cut mat-board to fit frame back and adhere.
  4. Embellish the inside of the frame with computer generated words or small embellishments. Make sure embellishments inside the frame is lower than frame top.
  5. Measure and mix resin following manufacturer’s instructions. Pour mix into frame to cover embellishments. Blow air onto the resin using a thin straw to help remove bubbles. Let dry completely.

Love You?

True story…

I occasionally submit cards and projects to various magazines for publication.

In return I sometimes get a small check.

Usually, the check comes several months later after I’ve completely forgotten all about it.

Love You Check Stub 3997

So…when I opened this check and saw the handwritten note on the stub,

I thought (gee) that’s kind of a personal message.

It had me scratching my head…

That was until I remembered the name of the card.  (silly me)

  3. Watercolor the girl’s hair using the #969 Chocolate marker. Color in the face with #850 Flesh marker. Highlight the cheeks with #800 Baby Pink marker. Watercolor the leaves with Peeled Paint ink and color the center of the flower with #993 Chrome Orange.
  4. Watercolor the skirt with Victorian Velvet inkpad and the top and hearts with Fired Brick ink.
  5. Adhere image onto a 3 1/4” x 4 1/4” piece of the Red Chevron plain side.
  6. Adhere those layers onto a 3 1/2” x 4 1/2” Blue Chevron layer.
  7. Cut a piece of denim fabric 4” x 5 1/4”, adhere onto a 4 1/2” x 5 3/4” card using scoretape. Adhere layers onto denim using score-tape.
