graphic-45-valentines-frame-sues-creative-workshop-4157

A little throw back Thursday…

to one of my favorite Valentine projects.  (made 4 years ago)

On the frame, I used Graphic 45’s “Place in Time” collection and a little cut and paste .

Which is now available as a Deluxe Collector Edition.

a little Valentine Love

valentines-frame-sues-creative-workshop-4136

When I flipped over the calendar this morning it hit me.

Less than 2 weeks until Valentine’s Day.

After all these years…

it’s still fun to throw a few hearts around to make sure he doesn’t forget.

I created this cute little Valentine’s decoration using a clear 4″ x 6″

acrylic craft frame from Deflecto Craft Solutions, scrapbook paper and stickers.

The sticker in the middle says “I belong with you & you belong with me”.

I think he’ll get the hint.

Making Mini Resin Frames

Resin Frame and Magnet 2788

I had this idea that I’d been wanting to try…

to create little dimensional framed artwork using miniature frames filled with resin.

It really is pretty easy to do.  The only hard part for me was waiting for the resin to cure.

They would be great for weddings or parties.

Customize the frames to use for table numbers, centerpieces, desert tables and more.

There’s a lot of possibilities.

Resin Magnet Supplies 916

To Create a Mini Frame…

Materials:

Directions:

  1. Remove the backing and glass from frame.
  2. Apply Rose Gold Metallic Lustre or paint of choice onto frame.
  3. Adhere decorative paper onto mat-board.   Cut mat-board to fit frame back and adhere.
  4. Embellish the inside of the frame with computer generated words or small embellishments. Make sure embellishments inside the frame is lower than frame top.
  5. Measure and mix resin following manufacturer’s instructions. Pour mix into frame to cover embellishments. Blow air onto the resin using a thin straw to help remove bubbles. Let dry completely.

Love You?

True story…

I occasionally submit cards and projects to various magazines for publication.

In return I sometimes get a small check.

Usually the check comes several months later after I’ve completely forgotten all about it.

Love You Check Stub 3997

So…when I opened this check and saw the handwritten note on the stub,

I thought (gee) that’s kind of a personal message.

It had me scratching my head…

That was until I remembered the name of the card.  (silly me)

Craft Ideas Winter 2015-2016

My “Love Ya” Card was featured in Crafts Ideas Winter Edition.

Art Play Paintables Love You Card

“Love Ya” Card…

A sweet card for Valentine’s Day or any day you want to spread a little love.

Materials List:

  • Waterbrush
  • AdornIt Art Play Paintables: 22646 Love You Paintable
  • AdornIt Blender Basics: 22480 Blue Chevron 12 x 12
  • AdornIt Blender Basics: 22504 Red Chevron 12 x 12
  • Denim Fabric (Canvas Corp Brands)
  • Red and White Gingham Ribbon
  • Tim Holtz Distress Inks: Fired Brick, Victorian Velvet, Stormy Sky
  • Tombow Markers: #969 Chocolate, #553 Mist Purple, #850 Flesh, #800 Baby Pink
  • 1/8” Score Tape
  • Mini Glue Dots
  • Piece of Acetate

On the card, I used a simple watercolor technique that uses ink from markers and ink-pads and uses a small piece of acetate as the palette. By scribbling directly onto the piece of acetate with the marker or by applying the ink directly from the pad, I have a variety of rich color to watercolor with. I simply color in the image using the water-brush.

Directions:

  1. Cut “love you” image from the Art Play Paintable Sheet leaving a thin white border.          (approx. 2 3/4” x 3 3/4”)
  2. Give the background of the image a light watercolor wash using ink from the Stonewashed Adirondack inkpad and the #553 Mist Purple marker.
  3. Watercolor the girls hair using the #969 Chocolate marker. Color in the face with #850 Flesh marker. Highlight the cheeks with #800 Baby Pink marker. Watercolor the leaves with Peeled Paint ink and color the center of the flower with #993 Chrome Orange.
  4. Watercolor the skirt with Victorian Velvet inkpad and the top and hearts with Fired Brick ink.
  5. Adhere image onto a 3 1/4” x 4 1/4” piece of the Red Chevron plain side.
  6. Adhere those layers onto a 3 1/2” x 4 1/2” Blue Chevron layer.
  7. Cut a piece of denim fabric 4” x 5 1/4”, adhere onto a 4 1/2” x 5 3/4” card using scoretape. Adhere layers onto denim using score-tape.
  8. Add four heart buttons to each side of the layers using mini glue dots.
  9. Tie a red gingham bow around the front of the card.

Have you seen ADORNit’s Art Play Paintables Collection by Lindsay Ostrom?

These papers are a card makers dream.

All these wonderful images without having to buy a ton of stamps.

The papers are perfect for coloring with color pencils, markers or painting

with water colors or inks.

Adorn It Color Sheets 2033

I like to water color with my inks and markers and a waterbrush.

If my inks have a flexible lid, I squeeze color into the lid and use that as my palette.

If not I dab the ink onto a non-porous surface and paint away.

“Love with all my heart”

Deflecto Mini Album 1557

I was supposed to be crawling into bed last night, when inspiration struck.

Happens to me all the time.   Does that ever happen to you?

So….In about a 1/2 hour time, I whipped up this cute little Mini Album using a couple of

Flexible Pouches from Deflecto Craft Solutions.

These pouches made the perfect cover for my mini album.

I used two pouches for my cover and inserted older left over Valentine scrapbook paper from

Authentique Paper.  I cut several inside pages and bound it together with my Bind It All and 1/2″ coil.

Fun, Simple and Cute.  (if I say so myself)
