Holiday Candy Bar and Fillin Station

Create a Holiday Candy Bar for your next Party or Get-together.

Both kids and adults alike will get a kick out of coming up and sneaking a few pieces of candy.

To get the party started you’ll need at least one set of Deflecto Interlocking Tilt Bins*

and a variety of yummy holiday candy.

The bins can be stacked, attached side by side or used individually.

Make it into a “Holiday Fillin Station” with Clear Candy Tubes* for your guests to fill.

Just add ribbon, twine and tags and let your guests create the perfect party favor.

You can purchase the Deflecto Interlocking Tilt Bins* I used for the Holiday Candy Bar

in a set of 4 interlocking bins, available at Michael’s or on Amazon.

Sparkle your 4th…

Sparkle your 4th…

For the 4th of July, I decided to create a round-up of my past 4 favorite patriotic projects.

Enjoy!

Recycle your old blue wine bottle into a festive display.

Enjoy the party with friends.  (maybe even empty another blue wine bottle)

To make the project… read here.

Red White and Blue Table Top Decoration

White picket fences, fireworks and the good old red white and blue.

A 4th of July Celebration Centerpiece with Fireworks, Flags, Banners and Pinwheels all

rolled into one.     To see how I made it… read more.

Welcome your visitors with an Americana Wreath for your front door.

How to make the Americana Ribbon Wreath

  • I used a 14″ ruled wreath from Smoothfoam.
  • Glue one end of the ribbon down onto the foam wreath and wrap the ribbon tightly around the first section.  Glue second end of the ribbon in place before starting second color. (I used Beacon Fabri-Tac Permanent Adhesive* to glue my ribbon in place.)
  • Using a thin floral wire, wire the small floral stems onto the base of the wreath.
  • Glue larger flowers and leaves onto the wreath over the wire.
  • Add large stemmed butterfly and ribbon to hang.

So many possibilities.

Deck out the deck with a fun denim banner made from old jeans.

Got any old worn blue jeans ready to be thrown out?

I started with my old blue jeans and 3″ Iron-on Embroidered Varsity Letters from Joy

in red and blue.

Personalized Pool Party Glasses

Keeping Cool and Living the Dream…

Here in the Midwest, summer has turned H-O-T!

And because we have a pool, we get a lot of extra visitors.

To help us all keep cool…we keep the blender whirling.

This is one of my favorite Summer activities.

Today… I’m participating with several designers of the Designer Craft Connection

in a Designer Challenge using Adhesive Vinyl from Styletech Craft.

For a full list of the participating designer’s projects CLICK HERE.

How to make personalized Pool Party Glasses.                  (*affiliate link)

  • Pick up a couple of inexpensive glasses at Dollar Tree*.   While you’re there…don’t forget to pick up the cute palm tree swizzle sticks.
  • Clean the glasses with warm soapy water to remove any grease or residue.
  • I used my Silhouette Cameo 3* to create and cut the words “just chillin” and “living the good life” out of Self Adhesive Glitter Vinyl Sheets- by Styletech*
  • Remove the background vinyl from the words using a vinyl weeding tool or metal pick.

  • Pick up the words off the backing paper with Vinyl Transfer Tape* and apply directly onto glass.  Rub the words to make sure they’ve stuck before removing the transfer tape.
  • If you can…Wait 4 days for the adhesive to fully cure before using the glass.
  • It is recommended to hand wash only.

Ask for Self Adhesive Glitter Vinyl Sheets- by Styletech from Tape Technologies* at your local Scrapbook Store.

Happy New Year 2018

Happy New Year 1249

By the time we get through all the Christmas Festivities and Parties….

I’m ready to stay in and eat pizza by the time New Year’s Eve comes along.

Relaxing and low key is the answer.

We may even toast the New Year, that is if he’s still awake.

Even though we’re not having a big party, Party Hats are always fun.

I must have been really good this year…

because Santa brought me a new Silhouette CAMEO 3 Wireless Cutting Machine*

I used my new present to whip up some simple party hats

Happy New Years-Sue's Creative Workshop-www.sueeldred.com 1203

I used two strips of Ultra FX Glitter Vinyl from Styletech and laid them side by side.

I made sure my fonts lined up so that I could cut both colors at the same time.

Happy New Years-Sue's Creative Workshop-www.sueeldred.com 1208

  • I also cut a large mat shape from black cardstock and a slightly smaller mat shape using silver metallic vinyl.
  • I used the transfer paper to remove all the letters at once and laid them onto my shiny mat to create my hat.
  • I cut the bottom section of the mat shape and added a small strip of vinyl for extra decoration.  I created a band for my hat from two strips of cardstock and stuck the “happy new year” mat on the front.  (pretty simple)

Now it’s a party.  (well sort of)

Easy DIY Golf Themed Party Ideas

How to Throw a Golf Themed Birthday Party…

We recently celebrated a milestone birthday for my husband,

who is quite the avid golfer.

He’s been playing golf since he was a kid and even caddied as a teen.

It only seemed fitting that we celebrate with a Golf Themed Birthday Party.

The Centerpiece was quite easy…

I used a cylinder vase from Dollar Tree along with decorative sand and

inexpensive plastic practice balls.

I cut pennants from red cardstock and glued them onto bamboo skewers,

then added chipboard number stickers.

I kept the menu simple with his favorite foods; fried chicken, pasta, sandwiches,

chips and salad.

For fun… I used golf lingo to create little signs to label some of the food.

I used a “free golf clipart” that I found online and customized each sign using

PicMonkey*, a photo editing site.  (*affiliate link)

PicMonkey Photo editing made of win

To clip the signs onto the serving dishes,

I used Versa Grip Wide Clip Sign Holders* and

Versa Grip Double-Clip Sign Holders* from Deflecto Craft Solutions.

Of course… there was the Water Hole and a Arnold Palmer Station.

Create your own Arnold Palmer drink with lemonade and tea (or sweet tee).

To keep with the theme… I used a Grass Tablecover*on the serving table,

Golf Party Paper Plates & Napkins* and hung Inflatable Golf Balls* from the ceiling.

I also purchased this Giant 5′ Golf Party Banner* from Amazon to hang on the wall.

The party wouldn’t be complete with out a golf themed birthday cake.

I purchased the cute little Pull Back Golf Cart* from Amazon only to find out it was also

available as part of the themed cake from Walmart.  (oh well)

The golf cart was a huge hit with both the young and the old.

My husband said he’s keeping this one for himself.

I had to get these “Oh No The Big 60” Candles* for the cake.

The golf  themed birthday party was shared with our large and wonderful

extended family on a beautiful, sunny (and cool) evening out in our garage/party

room.  I had so much fun planning this special “Par-Tee” for him.

It was easy thanks to a little help from Deflecto Craft Solutions

and purchases from Amazon, Dollar Tree, Party City and Oriental Trading.

Holiday Centerpiece or Party Serving Stand

holiday-centerpiece-sues-creative-workshop-2839

Tis the season for Holiday Parties and decorating…

around my house, it’s starting to kick in full steam.

Instead of stressing out, I try to create items with more than one purpose.

My Holiday Centerpiece also works wonderful as a Party Serving Stand.

holiday-stand-before-sues-creative-workshop-2810

I started with a Deflecto 3 Tier Dessert Stand* (affiliate link),

wrapping paper, glue stick and cutting mat.

holiday-centerpiece-cutting-the-circles-sues-creative-workshop-2812

  • I traced around all three of my circles onto the back of the wrapping paper.
  • Apply the glue stick generously around and inside the circle.  Lay circle onto wrapping paper and smooth out any air bubbles.  (The nice thing about using wrapping paper and a glue stick is that you can easily remove the paper and glue by soaking stand in warm water.)
  • Trim around circle and inside channels using a craft knife and cutting mat.

holiday-stand-close-up-sues-creative-workshop-2822

  • Glue lace around the outside of each circle and assemble stand.

holiday-adjustable-3-tier-stand-sues-creative-workshop-2826

Add ribbon and holly berries and you’re ready for a party.

holiday-centerpiece-sues-creative-workshop2841

Or add small ornaments and decorations for a fun Holiday Centerpiece.
